D-Backs prospect Braden Shipley gets past rough spell at Double-A
Diamondbacks starting pitcher prospect Braden Shipley has begun to turn the corner at Double-A Mobile after enduring a rough stretch of starts. The 2013 first-round pick (15th) has posted a 2.86 ERA and .212 opponents' batting average in his last five starts. In his previous nine starts, he went 1-6 with a 6.27 ERA and .305 opponents' batting average. For the season, the right-hander is 5-8 with a 4.20 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 18 starts. He has 64 strikeouts and 41 walks in 94 1/3 innings. Shipley was ranked as a top-40 prospect by Baseball America (No. 26) and MLB.com (No. 39) entering the season.

Diamondbacks re-assign Braden Shipley, Aaron Blair
The Diamondbacks re-assigned six players to minor-league camp Sunday, including pitching prospects Braden Shipley and Aaron Blair. Shipley allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk in four innings while striking out two in two spring games. Blair surrendered two earned runs on five hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out four in three appearances. The team also re-assigned pitchers Blake Beaven and Justin Marks as well as catchers Matt Pagnozzi and Mark Thomas.

Diamondbacks pitcher Braden Shipley makes debut Wednesday
Diamondbacks pitcher Braden Shipley pitched two innings in his spring training debut Wednesday, allowing just one baserunner and recording one strikeout. Shipley admitted he was a bit worried in his first appearance, reports AZCentral.com. "I was a little nervous going in, but that was expected," Shipley said. "I think it was more excitement for me. That was really fun." Manager Chip Hale said he expects Shipley to make starts in his next few appearances this spring.
