      Rays reliever Jose Dominguez pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Drew Smyly on Friday against the Blue Jays to earn his first career win in a 12-3 rout of Toronto. Unfortunately, he didn't get much time to celebrate, as the Rays optioned him to Triple-A Durham after the victory. Dominguez walked one and struck out two Friday. He has not allowed a run in 5 2/3 innings.

      Rays option Hak-Ju Lee, send down seven others

      The Rays cut eight players on Sunday. Shortstop Hak-Ju Lee was optioned to Triple-A Durham, along with RHP Jose Dominguez. Lee hit .222 in spring games. Dominguez struck out three of the six batters he faced in two perfect innings. The Rays also optioned three players to Double-A: C Justin O'Conner (.250 spring average), LHP Grayson Garvin (three strikeouts in four scoreless innings) and INF Ryan Brett (0-for-5) to Double-A Montgomery and reassigned RHP Dylan Floro (6.75 ERA), C Luke Maile (.250 average) and LHPRobert Zarate (6.00 ERA) to minor league camp.

      Rays' Dominguez impressive despite holding back with fastball

      Rays reliever Jose Dominguez was impressive in his spring debut Sunday against the Phillies. Dominguez struck out two in one perfect inning of relief. Dominguez threw in the low 90s on Sunday, but the right-hander -- who was acquired in a trade with the Dodgers -- can reach 100 mph with his fastball. "There's more in the tank, because I've seen him throw," manager Kevin Cash said, per The Tampa Tribune. "For him to just coast at 94 miles an hour is pretty good."

      Rays send Joel Peralta to Dodgers

      The Rays and Dodgers made a four player deal on Thursday in order to finalize 40-man rosters. Tampa Bay is receiving pitcher Jose Dominguez and Greg Harris. Los Angeles will receive Joel Peralta and pitcher Adam Liberatore . Peralta is the most well-known of the bunch. The 10-year veteran posted a 4.41 ERA over 63 1/3 innings with the Rays last year.
