Rays' Eddie Gamboa: Signs minor league contract with Rays

Gamboa signed a minor league contract with the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Gamboa spent his first full season at the Triple-A level with the Orioles organization last season, logging a 8-11 record with a 4.61 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 19 starts. The knuckleballer hasn't appeared in the majors yet, and is running out of time to make his way up since he's already 30 years old. He'll likely serve as a depth option since there are plenty of younger options already slated for a rotation spot with Tampa Bay.

"We haven't really gotten into what's next, MRI or whatever they're going to do yet. "I thought that's where it would head last night. He came in today and was about the same."
