      Hunter Renfore making smooth 'adjustment' to pro baseball

      Padres outfield prospect Hunter Renfroe has managed eight multi-hit outings in 16 games since joining the roster as Class A Eugene. The 2013 first-round pick (13th overall) is batting .333 with a .561 slugging percentage and .932 OPS since turning pro. Renfroe has three home runs, six doubles, eight RBI and 14 runs. "[The adjustment has] really not been that big, it's just been the difference between the [Southeastern Conference] umpires' strike zone and these guys' strike zone, which is a little different.       Hunter Renfroe making quick impact

      Padres outfield prospect Hunter Renfroe made his pro debut July 11 for Class A Eugene, which came two days after signing his first pro contract. The 2013 first-round pick (No. 13 overall) has wasted little time making a significant impact. Renfroe managed multiple hits in each of his first three pro games and has failed to record a hit just once in his first six games. Renfroe is batting .417 (10 for 24) with two doubles, two home runs, three RBI and five runs. He was ranked by Baseball America as the 11th-best prospect in the 2013 draft class.

      Padres sign first-round pick Hunter Renfroe

      The Padres announced Tuesday they have signed outfielder Hunter Renfroe, who was the 13th overall pick in June's MLB draft. Renfroe signed for just under $2.75 million, according to U-T San Diego. Renfroe will report to Class A Eugene Wednesday. The first-round pick hit .352 as a junior for national runner-up Mississippi State. He had two triples, 15 doubles, 15 home runs, 58 RBI, 51 runs and nine stolen bases in 59 games. Renfroe was considered the top-corner outfield and 11th-best prospect by Baseball America in this year's draft.
