Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka: Arthroscopic surgery on right elbow

Tanaka had arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of reports. The oft-injured pitcher went under the knife to remove a bone spur that apparently dated back to his time pitching in Japan. New York Daily News reporter Mark Feinsand noted that the recovery time for his injury will likely take close to six weeks meaning Tanaka should be fully healthy come spring training. However, considering Tanaka missed two and a half months in 2014 and another handful of starts in 2015, the 26-year-old pitcher will likely be another risky gamble for fantasy owners heading into 2016.

Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka strikes out three in no-decision

Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) gave up four runs on five hits and a walk in five innings against Boston on Wednesday. He struck out three. Both Tanaka and Red Sox starter Wade Miley were long gone by the time the Sox exploded for four runs in the 11th inning to win the game. He hadn't started since Sept. 18 due to the hamstring ailment, and Tanaka didn't exactly finish the regular season on a high note, but he'll be ready to go for the Yankees in the playoffs after finishing an injury-shortened regular season with a 3.51 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 154 innings spanning 24 starts.

Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka to start Wednesday

Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) has been confirmed as Wednesday's starter. A hamstring injury has prevented Tanaka from taking the hill since Sept. 18, but he's been able to ramp up his throwing over the past week or so without any significant issues. Tanaka has gone 3-0 against Boston so far this season despite giving up 10 earned runs on 15 hits and five walks in 17.1 innings.

Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) will not start Monday

Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) threw off flat ground Sunday, but will not start Monday as planned, The Westchester Journal News reports. Tanaka threw a bullpen session Friday that went well, though the team is playing it safe with the 26-year-old. He could take fielding practice Monday, and could start as early as Tuesday, but manager Joe Girardi reported that if Tanaka is unable to return by Thursday's game against the Red Sox, the pitcher would likely be held out until the postseason.

Report: Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka to throw bullpen Friday

Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) is slated to throw a bullpen session Friday, according to the Westchester Journal News. Though that's the initial plan, manager Joe Girardi left open the possibility that Tanaka night not actually throw until some point later this weekend. He underwent further examinations Thursday and everything came back well, so the tentative schedule has Tanaka in line to start either Monday or Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka to be examined Thursday

Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) will be examined by the team doctor again Thursday, the New York Post reports. Manager Joe Girardi repeatedly mentioned that Tanaka was feeling 'pretty good,' though the 26-year-old has not yet done the throwing or fielding they'd want him to do before reinserting him back into the rotation. With the next eight games at home, it seems likely that Tanaka will get a start at some point during the home stand, either against the White Sox or Red Sox.
