Shane Loux to undergo Tommy John surgery
Giants reliever Shane Loux is set to undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday and is done for the season, he tweeted from his personal account. Loux was once considered a possible rotation option earlier this season, but he was pitching at Triple-A Fresno when he suffered the injury. He likely faces a 12-month recovery, a tough hill for a 33-year-old to climb.

Giants mull replacements for Ryan Vogelsong
The Giants have begun to discuss replacements in the rotation for Ryan Vogelsong, who will miss 4-6 weeks after fracturing two bones and dislocating a joint in the pinkie finger on his right hand Monday. The Giants don't have to rush to a decision, however, since they won't need a fifth starter until May 28. Manager Bruce Bochy said long reliever Chad Gaudin would be considered to replace Vogelsong. MLB.com suggests minor-league pitchers Chris Heston, Michael Kickham and Shane Loux could be considered as well.
