    More work surfaces for Rivera

After one plate appearance Sunday that didn't even involve them, Yankees outfielders Matt Diaz and Juan Rivera went from vying for a bench spot to possible opening day starter. Both veterans are expected to earn more playing time this spring after starting left fielder Curtis Granderson suffered a broken right forearm during New York's Grapefruit League game against Toronto and will be sidelined the next 10 weeks. "We'll be forced to take a look at a short-term option," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. "It's very early. We're still evaluating what we actually have in camp. The first month there will be a vacancy that we need to fill. Is that internal, external, I couldn't even tell you."
