Grilli entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning, with the score tied 2-2. On the first play of the inning, Grilli collapsed while attempting to cover first base on a ground ball. After being tended to by the training staff, Grilli was carted off the field, unable to put any pressure on his left leg. The Braves have not announced the nature of the injury, but it certainly did not look promising. Grilli currently ranks fifth in the National League with 24 saves.

    The Braves have had serious talks about trading closer Jason Grilli, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman, who suggests the Blue Jays and Dodgers as two teams who could be a good fit for the veteran right-hander. "He has good makeup. I'd take a shot," one AL scout said. Grilli, who is 3-3 with a 2.67 ERA and 24 saves in 35 appearances, is under contract through 2016. He is slated to make $3.5 million next season and has a $3 million team option ($250,000 buyout) for 2017.

    Braves (and former Pirates) closer Jason Grilli served up a walk-off hit to the Pirates on Friday, earning his third loss of the season. Grilli was called upon in the 10th inning with the score tied 2-2. He immediately gave up a leadoff ground-rule double to Andrew McCutchen, who came around to score the winning run on a Jordy Mercer walk-off double. "Andrew McCutchen knows my style. I'm trying to get ahead and he was aggressive," Grilli said, per MLB.com. "When the leadoff [guy] gets on, sometimes it can create a situation." This was the first time Grilli had given up an earned run since the end of May, and it's his first loss since May 12.
