      Angels' Ramon Ramirez: Signs minor-league contract with Angels

      Ramirez signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Sunday, Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports. At 34 years old, Ramirez has made just seven outings in the majors since 2013 and seems to be on tap for another season spent mostly in the minors during 2016. Ramirez has accrued an ERA of 3.42 over the course of his career despite spending the 2015 season in Mexico.

      Ramon Ramirez inks minors deal with Orioles

      The Orioles have agreed to terms on a minor-league deal with pitcher Ramon Ramirez Saturday, MASNSports.com reports. Ramirez last appeared in the majors in 2013 with the Giants, posting an 11.12 ERA in 5 2/3 innings of work. He will report to Triple-A Norfolk after getting some work in at extended spring training.

      The Rays have released pitcher Ramon Ramirez from Triple-A. Ramirez was picked up on by the Rays July 1. He was designated for assignment by the Giants in late June. Ramirez gave up seven runs in his 5 2/3 innings in the majors this year.

      Giants make handful of roster moves

      The San Francisco Giants made a handful of roster moves Thursday, recalling catcher Hector Sanchez and reliever Jake Dunning, designating reliever Ramon Ramirez and optioning first baseman Brett Pill. Sanchez was hitting .320 in Triple-A and Dunning had a 1.75 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 36 Triple-A innings. Ramirez pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Giants out of relief, giving up seven earned runs. Pill hit .148 in 27 at-bats for San Francisco, with a home run and two doubles.
