      Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cubs. The 24-year-old went 0-for-3 in Game 1 and the Pirates are facing a lefty in Jon Lester in Game 2, so it's not surprising to see Polanco on the bench in favor of Sean Rodriguez. Polanco is batting just .202/.262/.293 against left-handed pitching this season.

      Pirates utility man Sean Rodriguez has been able to do some things at the plate early on this season. Rodriguez is hitting .382 in 34 at-bats so far this season, drawing the attention of manager Clint Hurdle, according to "He has a lot of qualities that Russell Martin had," said Hurdle. "The character, plays with an edge. An experienced guy sharing information. His in-game interaction in the dugout has been good." Hurdle also likes what he brings to the table defensively. "He's been a very good addition. There's a lot to like about him," Hurdle said. "The defensive versatility. The swing has played well. The determined focus. The interaction with players."
