      Catcher Carlos Ruiz was a bright spot in an otherwise forgettable night for the Phillies on Friday. Ruiz went 3 for 4, including his second home run of the year in the 15-2 loss to the Giants. Ruiz's solo shot actually tied the game at 1-1 in top of the fourth inning, but the Giants would pour on eight runs in the bottom half. Ruiz homered and doubled off Giants starter Madison Bumgarner on Friday. Both of Ruiz's homers this year have come in his last 10 games, and he is batting .264 over that stretch.

      Catcher Carlos Ruiz had two hits and drove in a pair of runs as the Phillies pulled out a 10-inning victory over the Braves on Sunday. Ruiz's biggest hit came in the 10th, when Philadelphia had just grabbed a 1-0 lead on a Ryan Howard sacrifice fly. Ruiz followed with a double to deep left field, giving the Phillies the insurance runs they needed to pick up the win. Ruiz's offensive numbers are down from his prime, but he does have four RBIs and three hits in his last four games to raise his season total to .223.

      Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz had a two-RBI single in a three-run first inning during a 5-2 win Monday at Atlanta. He finished with two singles in four at-bats. Ruiz had his first RBI on Monday since his fourth game of the season on April 11 against the Nationals. He is beginning to improve offensively, as he is batting .321 in his last eight games after hitting .184 in his first 11 games.
