Luis Mendoza adjusting to new role

Royals pitcher Luis Mendoza is adjusting to his role in the bullpen after he was moved out of the rotation recently. Manager Ned Yost thinks Mendoza needed the move after he looked tired in his last few starts, though Mendoza disagreed with that assessment when speaking to Friday. "I don't feel that way," Mendoza said. "Mentally, I feel strong. I've been working hard and my body feels great, but maybe my body feels different than my mind." Mendoza allowed nine runs in his final two starts before the move was made. He has yet to appear in a game since, as of Friday. He has a 4.87 ERA on the season, in 15 starts.

Luis Mendoza pitching through balky knee

Royals starter Luis Mendoza is expected to make his next start Wednesday in Cleveand, though he is dealing with a slight knee issue, reports. Mendoza's left knee tends to get a little achy from time to time. "He's probably going to make his next five starts," manager Ned Yost said, "so just go ahead and write that in." Mendoza has banged his knee a few times and appeared to tweak it in his win over the Rays Friday. That said, the pitcher says he feels 100 percent.
