Nationals' Stephen Drew: Signs with Nationals

Drew agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with the Nationals on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports. He barely pushed his average back above the Mendoza Line in 2015, batting just .201 despite a career-best 85.7 percent contact rate. Drew has been unlucky the past two seasons with balls in play, and he still has significant pop for a middle infielder entering his age-33 season, but he figures to open the year in a reserve role with the Nats. Further, he's lost shortstop eligibility in many formats after making 15 appearances at the position in 2015.

Yankees SS Stephen Drew diagnosed with vestibular concussion

Yankees shortstop Stephen Drew has been diagnosed with a vestibular concussion, Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network reports. Drew was dealing with an illness that has kept him out for the past two weeks, and he'll now have to go through the league's concussion protocol. Combined with his disappointing season at the plate -- he hit just .201 with a .271 OBP -- Drew's year is likely done regardless of how far the Yankees advance in the postseason.

Yankees' Stephen Drew undergoes concussion test over weekend

Yankees infielder Stephen Drew has been dealing with dizziness resulting from a head cold and underwent concussion tests Saturday, ESPN New York reports. Drew has seen very limited playing time lately, being held out of the lineup for 13 consecutive games and this appears to be the reason. The club has not yet received the results of the concussion test, but with just a week left, it's possible the 32-year-old's season could be done if it comes back positive. Drew is slashing .201/.271/.381 on the year and trade deadline acquisition Dustin Ackley has been hitting well in his stead, so it's unclear how much playing time he'll get when he's back to full health.

Yankees 2B Stephen Drew out, Dustin Ackley in again Monday

It appears that light-hitting Yankees second baseman Stephen Drew has lost his starting spot to Dustin Ackley. Drew is set to sit for the fourth straight game Monday against Toronto as New York seeks to catch the Blue Jays for the top spot in the American League East. Ackley, who is hitting .360 since joining the Yankees at the trade deadline, will get his third straight start and bat ninth.

Yankees SS Stephen Drew sits Friday against lefty pitcher

Yankees shortstop Stephen Drew is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets. Drew has been sitting regularly with a left-handed pitcher on the mound, and that will be the case again Friday as the Yankees are set to oppose southpaw Steven Matz. Brendan Ryan will get the start once again at the keystone in his place and bat eighth.

Sizzling Stephen Drew goes yard in Wednesday win

For four-and-a-half months, Yankees second baseman Stephen Drew was cold at the plate. For four days, he's been red-hot. It remains to be seen if he can extend the tear. Drew doubled and scored in the second inning Wednesday in Boston, but he was far from done. He clobbered a three-run homer in the third and singled in the fifth. He has nine hits in his last 12 at-bats with two home runs and nine RBI.

Yankees 2B Stephen Drew has rare offensive explosion

In using a popular and appropriate term, the performance Sunday of Yankees second baseman Stephen Drew came out of left field. Drew, who had failed all year to nudge his average to .200, finally scaled that mountain in Atlanta with a 4-for-4 effort that pushed it to .201. Among those hits was a two-run homer in the third. He reached base all six times in the laugher. He walked in a run in the fifth and singled in another in the seventh. His effort ended an 0-for-12 skid.
