Giants OF Hunter Pence still sidelined with oblique injury

Giants outfielder Hunter Pence remains sidelined due to his injured oblique. There was an outside shot that Pence would return Monday, but he will remain out with his injured oblique. He could still return before the regular season concludes, but the Giants have not provided a recent update on his status.

Giants RF Hunter Pence (oblique) still without clear timetable

The best-case scenario for outfielder Hunter Pence (oblique) would be returning for the Giants' final homestand, which starts Sept. 28 against the Dodgers, the San Francisco Chronicle's John Shea reports. His oblique is still limiting his ability to swing a bat, and all he has been able to do lately is take dry swings. This timetable is pretty ominous, as the Giants will likely be eliminated from playoff contention around that point in the season, so it's quite possible Pence won't return at all.

Bochy: Three ailing Giants outfielders could be done for year

Bruce Bochy has stated that Giants outfielders Gregor Blanco (concussion), Nori Aoki (concussion) and Hunter Pence (oblique) might all be done for the season, per the Bay Area News Group. If Blanco is indeed out for the year, he will finish it with a slash line of .291/.369/.413 and 59 runs in just 327 at-bats. Aoki has been sidelined since Sept. 3. He too would end the year with strong numbers, including a .287 average. Injuries have limited Pence to just 52 games this season. He has still managed 40 RBI in 207 at-bats. Bochy is more optimistic about his return in 2015 than the other two.

Pence has been on the DL since Aug. 19 and has only appeared in 52 games this season.

Red-hot Hunter Pence records four hits in Giants win on Friday

Giants right fielder Hunter Pence enjoyed a four-hit night at the plate in Friday's 9-3 win over the A's. Pence doubled twice, singled twice, drove in two runs and scored a run. Pence has been tearing the cover off the ball after returning from the disabled list earlier this month. In 12 games since making his return, Pence is batting .353 with five doubles, three homers and 15 RBI. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Giants are 10-2 in those 12 games.
