Coach Fred Hoiberg said Friday that he views Carter-Williams as the Bulls' backup point guard, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

With Hoiberg removing Jerian Grant from both the starting lineup and rotation in the last two games and Cameron Payne (foot) now sidelined, Rajon Rondo and Carter-Williams look poised to handle the majority of the minutes at point guard until further notice. Rondo was appointed into the starting five the last two games and has seen 35-plus minutes both times out, so if that pattern holds, it appears Carter-Williams will frequently have to settle for less than 15 minutes, which doesn't give him much intrigue outside of very deep leagues.
