These are the times that try DFS players' souls.

We;re looking at a three-game slate that includes a pair of slow-paced defensive stalwarts. No clear path to value plays via injury or matchups. We're left with a Bulls/Wizards stack and hopes that the Spurs decide to rest enough players against the Nets that we can find value in that game.

Generally on short slates I believe it's increasingly important to target as many studs as possible. The aforementioned lack of value makes that extremely tough on Monday. The situations the studs find themselves in make it even worse.

Stephen Curry and Draymond Green face a Miami Heat team that has been the second best in the league at both point guard and power forward. Those are the only players other than John Wall that are over $9,000. Yeah, I'm playing Wall.

Kawhi Leonard is in the most likely blowout and the Spurs rotation is far from guaranteed on the road in the first half of a back-to-back. I won't plan on playing any Spurs until we get some clarity later in the afternoon.

The return of Joakim Noah is going to make a mess of the Bulls big man rotation, but Pau Gasol is still very safe. He and Jimmy Butler will likely complete my trio of studs.

Your value plays are going to come from late scratches (looking at you, Pop) or they're going to be dart throws. Maybe Danny Green's shot falls? Maybe Shane Larkin plays 30 minutes again? Maybe Pop decides to give Boban Marjanovic extended run? None of these questions are the type you'll feel comfortable speculating on and they're exactly why I'll limit my exposure and wait for a pretty balanced schedule the rest of the week.

Injury Report

John Wall (Knee, Probable)
A thin Wizards backcourt could be thinner. Ramon Sessions would be the biggest benefactor.

Joakim Noah (Shoulder, Probable)
If Noah returns to the lineup the Bulls big man rotation is going to be a major question mark.

Spurs (Rest, Quetionable)
It's the first night of a back-to-back and the Spurs play a decent Pistons team on Tuesday.

Wednesday Slate

Wizards @ Bulls
Fantasy Points Allowed: 405.4

This is the game you want a big piece of, because the other two are DFS garbage. Wall, Butler and Gasol feel like near must-plays. That's normally a little bit scary, but with so few options I can say it with confidence. The Noah situation could really crush the value of Bobby Portis, which is going to make it difficult to stack studs.

Heat @ Warriors
Fantasy Points Allowed: 382.6

When there are only three games and only one player over $10,000 it becomes very tempting to use that player. No one has more upside than Curry, but I'm still more likely to use Wall if he's healthy. I can't trust Hassan Whiteside against a Warriors team that loves to go small.

Spurs @ Nets
Fantasy Points Allowed: 381.2

Any other night I'd call this game a clear stay-away, but that's going to be difficult on a three game slate. Larkin is probably my favorite play from the game, but the Spurs could create some interesting value depending on who they rest. Thaddeus Young has a terrible matchup but he may be tough to avoid unless some serious value pops up late.
