Gasol has a bone bruise on his right foot and has been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason finale against the Timberwolves, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.
Originally diagnosed as a right ankle sprain, an MRI later revealed that a bone bruise is the real problem for Gasol. It is a different bone than the one that forced him to miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season, but it will likely cause the Grizzlies to remain extra cautious with their starting center for the start of the regular season and potentially longer. There is no official timetable on Gasol's return, so he should be considered day-to-day until the team can give an official update on his recovery.
