Hairston was traded to the Grizzlies on Tuesday as part of a three-team trade involving the Hornets and Heat, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
According to the report, the Grizzlies will receive Hairston and Chris Andersen along with two second-round picks from both teams, while the Heat acquire Brian Roberts from the Hornets, who will receive Courtney Lee from the Grizzlies. Hairston appeared primed to start at small forward for the Hornets with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist shut down for the season with a torn labrum, but it looks like those duties will instead go to Lee, who offers more upside as a three-point shooter. Since Hairston will become an unrestricted free agent this summer after the Hornets declined to exercise his fourth-year option in November, it's not likely that he'll be a major factor in the Grizzlies' rotation. Tony Allen, Matt Barnes, Jeff Green, and perhaps even Vince Carter could all rank ahead of Hairston for playing time on the wing.
