Mavericks' J.J. Barea: Scores 20 points, dishes seven dimes Sunday

Barea posted 20 points (8-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), seven assists, two steals and one rebound across 27 minutes during Sunday's 111-104 win over the Nets.

The Mavericks had held Barea under 20 minutes in his first five games back from a calf injury, but coach Rick Carlisle turned the veteran loose Sunday and reaped the benefits. In addition to scoring in efficient fashion, Barea thrived as a distributor, showing his 13-assist game back on March 15 wasn't merely a mirage. Meanwhile, starting point guard Yogi Ferrell was held to single digits in the scoring column for the fourth game in a row, so it wouldn't be surprising if Barea continued to eat further into his role over the final three weeks of the regular season.
