Pelicans' Anthony Davis: Scores 36 points, but not enough for win Sunday
Davis finished with 36 points (12-22 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 12-14 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 40 minutes in Sunday's 91-81 loss to the Mavericks.
Though his teammates had generally done a good job of providing offensive support for Davis of late with the Pelicans winning four of their last five games heading into Sunday, there was little assistance offered against the Mavs, as Jrue Holiday (17 points) was the team's only other double-digit scorer. While poor team-wide efforts like these won't help the 6-12 Pelicans inch closer to the .500 mark, Davis' production won't suffer either way. The 23-year-old is averaging 31.5 points (on 52.2% shooting), 10.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game in wins, and 32.0 points (on 51.9% shooting), 11.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game in losses.
