Hield expects to start Tuesday's preseason game against the Hawks, John Reid of the Times-Picayune reports.

His competition for the starting shooting guard role, E'Twaun Moore, is dealing with a heel injury and has already been ruled out for Tuesday. With Moore on the sidelines, Hield is slated to draw the start and will likely get extended minutes, as the rookie continues to adjust to the NBA game. Both Hield and Moore are expected to have significant roles in coach Alvin Gentry's regular rotation, but whoever is in the starting lineup to begin the regular season will likely be the beneficiary of a slightly larger allotment of minutes.
