Kings coach George Karl and front office personnel have told opposing team executive that they hope to soon secure ownership authorization to shop star center DeMarcus Cousins, sources have told Yahoo Sports.

That report contradicts the words of Kings vice-president Vlade Divac, who has insisted that Cousins will not be placed on the market.

Karl has reportedly recruited Divac and Kings players to convince owner Vivek Ranadive that Cousins should be dealt. The fear now is that Cousins will clash with Karl next season knowing that the latter yearned for such a trade.

Sources have also told Yahoo that Ranadive has become annoyed with Karl's insistence on trading Cousins and also that the coach doesn't believe he can control the strong-willed standout.

Cousins could fetch quite a package. He has become more productive in time. He finished last season averaging a career-best 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
