Beverley could potentially have surgery performed on his left knee, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports.

Beverley is expected to have his knee further evaluated later this week, which should give him a better indication if he'll need to undergo surgery. Even if he doesn't have the procedure, coach Mike D'Antoni already indicated that he's unsure if Beverley will be available for the season opener on Oct. 26 against the Lakers, so it appears the knee injury is going to linger a bit longer than originally expected. If Beverley does miss some time early on in the regular season, look for the Rockets to go with a starting backcourt of James Harden and Eric Gordon.
