Week 14 Fantasy Basketball Planner
A handful of players are starting to make some noise in Fantasy, namely Nick Young in Washington and Ryan Anderson in Orlando. Sergio Gonzalez touches on that and goes around the league in his Fantasy Planner.
Our weekly Fantasy Basketball Planner is the essential guide to setting your lineup for the upcoming scoring period. Every week, we provide you with news and notes for each team, tracking hot and cold players, injuries and rotation changes.
Schedule: @MIL, NY, @DAL
Injury Report: Al Horford (ankle/day-to-day), Marvin Williams (back/out indefinitely)
Good Plays: Josh Smith , Joe Johnson
Toss Ups: Al Horford , Jamal Crawford
Bad Plays: Mike Bibby , Jeff Teague , Jordan Crawford , Maurice Evans , Marvin Williams , Zaza Pachulia
Notes: The ankle sprain Horford suffered is expected to keep him out "a couple of games." He will be a tough play this week given a restricted three-game slate. ... The Hawks still have no real timetable on when Williams may be able to return. He has not played since Dec. 29. ... Bibby remains useful mostly just in a pinch for deeper leagues. ... Crawford hit a speed bump this week with poor shooting games vs. the Rockets and Kings, but bounced back at Miami on Jan. 18. He remains a quality play, but consider the fact he plays two good defensive teams (@MIL, @DAL) in a three-game week.
Schedule: CLE, @POR, @PHO, @LAL
Injury Report: Marquis Daniels (ankle/day-to-day), Jermaine O'Neal (knee/February), Kendrick Perkins (knee/February), Delonte West (wrist/February)
Good Plays: Rajon Rondo , Paul Pierce , Ray Allen
Toss Ups: Kevin Garnett , Glen Davis , Shaquille O'Neal
Bad Plays: Nate Robinson , Marquis Daniels , Semih Erden , Avery Bradley
Notes: Garnett has been able to play around 30 minutes in each of his first two games back from a lengthy absence due to a leg injury. The shot volume has been high and there have been minimal signs of rust, which points to him being a safe start again in any format. ... Even with Garnett back, Davis' numbers have remained mostly unaltered. ... Shaq is heating up, contributing 12-and-12 on Jan. 19 against Detroit. He has averaged 11.8 points and 2.0 blocks over his last five games, but his rebounding has been spotty. He remains an emergency play only.
Schedule: @SAC, @PHO, @GS, @LAC
Injury Report: Gerald Wallace (ankle/day-to-day), Tyrus Thomas (knee/March)
Good Plays: Stephen Jackson , D.J. Augustin
Toss Ups: Gerald Wallace , Boris Diaw , Kwame Brown
Bad Plays: Nazr Mohammed , Gerald Henderson , Shaun Livingston
Notes: The Bobcats have excellent matchups in Week 14, facing four teams that allow an average of 104.8 points per game. ... Wallace tweaked an ankle on Jan. 18 in Chicago, but should play on. Given the matchups, Fantasy owners should expect a huge week if there are no setbacks over the weekend. ... Expect high-volume games to influence Diaw's diverse stat line across the board, but his scoring could see the biggest boost. He has averaged a 14-5-7 stat line over his last five and makes for a nice play in any league. ... Take a chance on Brown in deeper leagues given the matchups, as he could be started over more proven options.
Schedule: MIL, ORL, IND
Injury Report: Carlos Boozer (ankle/day-to-day), Joakim Noah (thumb/February)
Good Plays: Derrick Rose , Luol Deng
Toss Ups: Carlos Boozer , Taj Gibson
Bad Plays: Kurt Thomas , Ronnie Brewer , Kyle Korver , C.J. Watson
Notes: Boozer's status for the weekend remains up in the air and he could be a tough call for Week 14 if he does not return. Given his history with injuries, have healthy alternatives prepared. ... Gibson has played 40-plus minutes in Boozer's two absences, putting up around 10-and-10 in each game. Consider him a suitable handcuff option for Boozer, but do not start him outside of daily leagues unless Boozer is ruled out through the week. ... Korver had a rare 22-point outburst this week on Jan. 17 at Memphis. He followed it with a much more typical six points the next day in Charlotte. Avoid him. ... Thomas is quietly averaging 9.2 rebounds to go with 7.2 points with good playing time as a starter, but a three-game week with tough matchups against three good defensive teams makes him a very low-end play.
|1.||Nick Young , G, Wizards||73|
|2.||Boris Diaw , F, Bobcats||53|
|3.||Ramon Sessions , G, Cavaliers||34|
|4.||Luke Ridnour , G, Timberwolves||34|
|5.||Lou Williams , G, 76ers||25|
|6.||Ryan Anderson , F, Magic||33|
|7.||Thaddeus Young , F, 76ers||17|
|8.||Beno Udrih , G, Kings||61|
|9.||DeMar DeRozan , G, Raptors||46|
|10.||Trevor Ariza , F, Hornets||63|
Schedule: @NJ, @BOS, DEN, @ORL
Injury Report: Christian Eyenga (ankle/day-to-day), Joey Graham (quadriceps/day-to-day), Mo Williams (hip/February), Anthony Parker (back/late January), Anderson Varejao (ankle/out for the season)
Good Plays: Antawn Jamison
Toss Ups: JJ Hickson , Ramon Sessions , Daniel Gibson
Bad Plays: Manny Harris , Alonzo Gee , Jamario Moon
Notes: The Cavaliers will play three of four games against teams that allow less than 100 points per game. ... With Williams being shut down, Sessions gets a chance to continue a solid run that began when Gibson went down with an injury. Sessions is averaging a very useful 14-6-4 stat line in January with over a steal per game. ... Gibson looked plenty healthy in his return from an ankle injury on Jan. 19, scoring 16 points thanks to four bombs from beyond the arc. He is not an ideal start in Week 14 given the tough matchups, but his health appears to be a non-issue.
Schedule: LAC, HOU, ATL
Injury Report: Roddy Beaubois (foot/out indefinitely), Caron Butler (knee/out for the season)
Good Plays: Dirk Nowitzki , Jason Kidd
Toss Ups: Jason Terry , Tyson Chandler , Shawn Marion
Bad Plays: Sasha Pavlovic , DeShawn Stevenson , Brendan Haywood , J.J. Barea
Notes: Nowitzki has been a little shaky since his return from a knee injury, but the minutes and shot attempts have been as expected and the numbers will be there in the end. Keep him active across the board. ... Nowitzki's return has just about cropped Stevenson out of the picture, as anticipated. He is not a player to activate in any format. ... Pavlovic has gotten a chance to start but is not a player we anticipate having a great deal of Fantasy appeal. He is more of a placeholder in the first unit with Terry doing much of the heavy lifting at the two-guard spot. Terry is just as productive as a reserve as he is a starter and sometimes even more so off the bench, but consider the fact he has just three games this week in cumulative formats. ... Chandler appeared to suffer a brief setback on Jan. 19 in his return from an illness, but was able to play on after briefly leaving the game. If he makes it through the weekend in shape, he remains a viable No. 2 center option. ... Marion's numbers do stand to take a hit with Nowitzki back, but he was able to manage 22 points on Jan. 19 against the Lakers. Expect inconsistency.
Schedule: @WAS, @DET, @CLE, @PHI
Injury Report: Chris Andersen (knee/late January)
Good Plays: Carmelo Anthony , null Nene
Toss Ups: Chauncey Billups , J.R. Smith , Arron Afflalo , Al Harrington
Bad Plays: Ty Lawson , Kenyon Martin , Chris Andersen , Shelden Williams
Notes: The Nets finally backed out of the Anthony sweepstakes this week, but trade rumors will continue to loom over the Nuggets through the February trade deadline or until a deal gets done. ... Billups has struggled, possibly due to the lingering doubts over whether or not he would be traded. If the death of the "mega-deal" can kick start him over the weekend, he can be considered a good play in most formats thanks to favorable matchups most of the week. If not, he still has enough upside in assists to make him a viable low-end play in most scenarios. ... Smith, Afflalo and Harrington can be viewed as decent low-end plays for deeper leagues given favorable matchups against the Wizards, Pistons and Cavaliers.
Schedule: @ORL, DEN, @MIA, @NY
Injury Report: Ben Wallace (ankle/day-to-day), Jonas Jerebko (Achilles'/February)
Good Plays: Rodney Stuckey
Toss Ups: Tracy McGrady , Ben Gordon , Tayshaun Prince , Greg Monroe , Charlie Villanueva
Bad Plays: Richard Hamilton , Ben Wallace , Chris Wilcox , Will Bynum , Austin Daye , Jason Maxiell
Notes: McGrady has significantly cooled off, though his minutes have remained high since suffering a shin injury on Jan. 15. ... A move to shooting guard has allowed Stuckey to focus more on his scoring but is leading to fewer assists. He is averaging 17.6 points and 3.4 assists over his last five games. ... Gordon has managed to hit 15 points just once in four games since scoring 25 on Jan. 12 vs. Memphis. ... Hamilton has not played in a game since Jan. 10 and it seems a trade is the only thing that can save his Fantasy appeal at this point. ... Prince is quietly averaging a very solid 16-3-5 stat line in January and has been perhaps the most consistent Fantasy option in Detroit. ... Monroe is averaging 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds over his last five, making him useful in just about any format. He is also offering solid steals production.
|1.||Ryan Anderson , F, Magic||33|
|2.||Kwame Brown , C, Bobcats||23|
|3.||Ramon Sessions , G, Cavaliers||21|
|4.||Greg Monroe , C, Pistons||15|
|5.||Lou Williams , G, 76ers||14|
|6.||Joel Przybilla , C, Trail Blazers||14|
|7.||Chuck Hayes , F, Rockets||12|
|8.||Nicolas Batum , F, Trail Blazers||10|
|9.||Corey Maggette , F, Bucks||9|
|10.||Nick Young , G, Wizards||7|
Golden State Warriors
Schedule: SA, NO, CHA, UTA
Injury Report: Lou Amundson (ankle/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Monta Ellis , David Lee , Stephen Curry , Dorell Wright
Toss Ups: None.
Bad Plays: Andris Biedrins , Reggie Williams , Vladimir Radmanovic , Lou Amundson
Notes: The Warriors will play four opponents that allow less than 100 points per game. ... Biedrins is not only not scoring, but his rebounding numbers are down as well. Over his last five games, he has averaged just 5.6 boards. He has been helpful only in the blocks category at the moment. ... Williams showed a brief spark this week, scoring in double figures with heavy playing time against the Clippers and Nets, but he was held scoreless in 10 minutes vs. Indiana on Jan. 19. So much for that.
Schedule: @MIN, LAC, @DAL, @SA
Injury Report: Brad Miller (knee/late January), Yao Ming (ankle/out for the season)
Good Plays: Luis Scola , Kevin Martin
Toss Ups: Aaron Brooks , Kyle Lowry , Shane Battier , Jordan Hill , Chuck Hayes
Bad Plays: Chase Budinger , Courtney Lee , Terrence Williams , Patrick Patterson
Notes: The Rockets are hopeful that Miller might return at some point in the next week, but there is no real concrete return date set. ... In Miller's absence, Jordan Hill has stepped up with a few decent efforts on the boards and even some adequate offensive numbers. He is a sleeper for deep, deep leagues -- especially in leagues where he is eligible at center. ... Hayes is also benefiting with Miller sidelined, averaging 8.8 points and 8.5 rebounds with 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in his last four appearances. ... Brooks has shown sparks of his old self of late, but is clearly still not 100 percent, alternating good nights with stinkers. Be patient, but also smart. Reserve him until he can string some games together. ... Lowry remains a ticking time bomb in Fantasy. As Brooks gets healthier, Lowry should fade. Over his last five games, however, he has remained strong (17-5-4). Ride the hot hand while you can, but don't get too attached.
Schedule: ORL, NJ, @CHI
Injury Report: Roy Hibbert (illness/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Danny Granger , Darren Collison
Toss Ups: Roy Hibbert , Mike Dunleavy
Bad Plays: Tyler Hansbrough , Brandon Rush , Jeff Foster , Josh McRoberts , T.J. Ford , Paul George
Notes: Add an upper respiratory infection to Hibbert's problems. The struggling big man has not hit double digits in points or rebounds in any of his last five appearances. ... Darren Collison is now averaging a 17-6-3 line in January, by far his most productive month of the season. ... Dunleavy, a fringe option due to his inconsistency, should be avoided given three matchups against teams that allow under 100 points per game.
Schedule: @DAL, @HOU, CHA
Injury Report: Eric Gordon (finger/day-to-day), Chris Kaman (ankle/February)
Good Plays: Blake Griffin , Eric Gordon , Baron Davis
Toss Ups: DeAndre Jordan
Bad Plays: Eric Bledsoe , Ryan Gomes , Al-Farouq Aminu , Rasual Butler , Randy Foye
Notes: Gordon tweaked a finger in Wednesday's game against Minnesota, but is expected to play through it. ... Davis is enjoying his healthiest, most productive month of the season, averaging 16.4 points and 7.6 assists per game in January. ... No Kaman in Week 14, which means another scoring period of double-double caliber production out of Jordan. He matches up well inside against the Rockets and Bobcats.
Schedule: UTA, SAC, BOS
Injury Report: Andrew Bynum (elbow/day-to-day), Matt Barnes (knee/March)
Good Plays: Kobe Bryant , Pau Gasol , Lamar Odom
Toss Ups: Andrew Bynum , Metta World Peace
Bad Plays: Shannon Brown , Derek Fisher , Matt Barnes , Steve Blake
Notes: Bynum hyper-extended his right elbow on Jan. 19 against Dallas, but was able to practice the very next day. He is expected to play on and should be considered a safe play, barring setbacks. ... Artest is averaging just 9.0 points per game to go with around three rebounds and assists in January. Avoid him.
Schedule: @TOR, @NJ, @PHI, WAS
Injury Report: Tony Allen (knee/day-to-day), Xavier Henry (knee/late January)
Good Plays: Zach Randolph , Rudy Gay , Marc Gasol
Toss Ups: Mike Conley , O.J. Mayo
Bad Plays: Tony Allen , Darrell Arthur , Greivis Vasquez
Notes: Conley scored 22 points on Jan. 19 at the Hornets, but had scored just 21 points combined over his three previous games. Look to see which Conley shows up over the weekend before making a final decision. ... Mayo continues to be too inconsistent to trust, averaging just 10.7 points per game in January. Even with a four-game slate and favorable matchups against the Raptors and Wizards, we recommend staying away.
Schedule: @NY, DET, @OKC
Injury Report: Dwyane Wade (knee/day-to-day), Chris Bosh (ankle/day-to-day), Udonis Haslem (foot/March)
Good Plays: Dwyane Wade , LeBron James
Toss Ups: Chris Bosh
Bad Plays: Zydrunas Ilgauskas , James Jones , Joel Anthony , Carlos Arroyo , Eddie House , Mike Miller
Notes: The Heat have been nursing Wade through a sore knee, but he has not let it affect his productivity one bit. He remains a safe play in all leagues. ... Bosh could be an injury-risk play for Week 14 if he does not return for Saturday's game against his former team. His status for that game remains unsettled. Anthony and Ilgauskas did very little in his absence on Jan. 18. ... James did not skip a beat after missing two games, returning with a 34-7-10 line against Atlanta.
Schedule: @CHI, ATL, @TOR, NJ
Injury Report: Andrew Bogut (virus/day-to-day), Drew Gooden (foot/day-to-day), John Salmons (hip/day-to-day), Carlos Delfino (concussion/day-to-day), Brandon Jennings (foot/late January), Michael Redd (knee/February)
Good Plays: Andrew Bogut
Toss Ups: John Salmons , Corey Maggette , Chris Douglas-Roberts , Drew Gooden
Bad Plays: Ersan Ilyasova , Brandon Jennings , Earl Boykins , Keyon Dooling , Carlos Delfino , Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
Notes: Salmons was a late scratch for Milwaukee's Jan. 19 game vs. Washington and was held out of practice the next day due to a sore hip. He is day-to-day and will have to be monitored through the weekend. In his absence, Douglas-Roberts and Maggette would get a chance to step up. ... The Bucks plan to bring Gooden along slowly as he continues to deal with lingering foot pain due to plantar fasciitis. He averaged 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in his first four games back.
|1.||Hornets||OKC, @GS, @SAC, @PHO|
|2.||Bobcats||@SAC, @PHO, @S, @LAC|
|3.||Timberwolves||HOU, OKC, @UTA, TOR|
|4.||Wizards||@NY, DEN, @OKC, @MEM|
|5.||76ers||PHO, @TOR, MEM, DEN|
Schedule: HOU, OKC, @UTA, TOR
Injury Report: Darko Milicic (ankle/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Kevin Love , Michael Beasley
Toss Ups: Luke Ridnour , Darko Milicic , Corey Brewer
Bad Plays: Wesley Johnson , Jonny Flynn , Martell Webster , Anthony Tolliver
Notes: The Timberwolves will face three opponents that allow 100-plus points per game, which should make for a high-scoring four-game week. ... Expect Ridnour to be a sleeper for a huge week, coming off a five-game stretch during which he has averaged a 15-7-3 line. ... Darko sprained his ankle on Jan. 19 at the L.A. Clippers, but if he can make it through the weekend in decent shape he would be a strong No. 2 center option given the matchups. He had just started to look healthy again after dealing with hip issues. ... Fantasy owners in category leagues should look to Brewer right now for help in steals. Over his past five contests, he has averaged three swipes per game to go with 13.2 points over the same span.
New Jersey Nets
Schedule: CLE, MEM, @IND, @MIL
Injury Report: Anthony Morrow (hamstring/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Brook Lopez , Devin Harris
Toss Ups: Kris Humphries
Bad Plays: Derrick Favors , Jordan Farmar , Anthony Morrow , Travis Outlaw , Sasha Vujacic , Troy Murphy , Anthony Morrow
Notes: The Nets announced this week that they are officially out of the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes. That means players like Humphries, Harris and Murphy are not going anywhere for now. ... Humphries has remained the most productive rebounder for the Nets, averaging 9.2 over his last five games to go with 10.3 points and 1.2 blocks. He remains a quality play despite added playing time for Favors, who has been highly inconsistent. ... The Nets should begin to work Morrow back into the mix over the weekend, but given the fact he has been out since early December, we are not expecting much out of him initially.
New Orleans Hornets
Schedule: OKC, @GS, @SAC, @PHO
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Good Plays: Chris Paul , David West , Emeka Okafor
Toss Ups: Trevor Ariza , Jarrett Jack
Bad Plays: Jason Smith , Willie Green , Marco Belinelli , Marcus Thornton
Notes: The Hornets are slated for four games against opponents that allow over 100 points per game. Their Week 14 opponents allow an average of 105.0 points per game. ... Expect players like Ariza to see an increase in shot volume this week, inflating their potential Fantasy appeal. Ariza could average in the mid-teens in scoring to go with good numbers in rebounds, steals and blocks. ... The Hornets continue to shuffle at the two-guard spot, but lately Jack has been able to put together the occasional useful scoring line. He is a shot in the dark for deeper leagues.
New York Knicks
Schedule: WAS, MIA, @ATL, DET
Injury Report: Kelenna Azubuike (knee/out indefinitely), Eddy Curry (hamstring/out indefinitely)
Good Plays: Amar'e Stoudemire , Raymond Felton , Wilson Chandler
Toss Ups: Danilo Gallinari , Landry Fields
Bad Plays: Toney Douglas , Anthony Randolph , Ronny Turiaf , Timofey Mozgov , Henry Walker , Shawne Williams
Notes: With Gallinari back in the mix, Turiaf has been pushed out of the lineup. ... Gallinari played 30-plus minutes in his first two games back from a six-game absence due to a knee injury. He averaged 14 points and five boards in the two games and appears to be a safe play again in most formats. He should benefit from matchups against Washington and Detroit. ... Fields is averaging 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game over his last five, but just 9.0 points.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Schedule: @NO, @MIN, WAS, MIA
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Good Plays: Kevin Durant , Russell Westbrook
Toss Ups: Jeff Green , Serge Ibaka , James Harden
Bad Plays: Nenad Krstic , Thabo Sefolosha , Nick Collison
Notes: Green is playing an ineffective role these days, seeing around 12 shots per game but averaging just 12 points. His numbers in rebounding and assists have not been enough to carry him outside of deeper leagues. ... Green's loss on the boards has been Ibaka's gain. He is averaging around 12 points and eight boards with 1.5 blocks in January and makes for a better play than Green in many formats. ... Harden has failed to hit double digits in scoring for six straight games.
Schedule: DET, @IND, @CHI, CLE
Injury Report: Jameer Nelson (hamstring/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Dwight Howard , Jason Richardson
Toss Ups: Hedo Turkoglu , Jameer Nelson , Gilbert Arenas , Ryan Anderson
Bad Plays: Brandon Bass , J.J. Redick , Chris Duhon
Notes: Anderson has been the most added player in CBSSports.com leagues. He has taken a firm grip on the power forward job in Orlando thanks to a good combination of rebounding and 3-point shooting. Take note category-league owners. He is averaging 16.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.6 3-pointers made over his last five games. Make the most of it. ... With Anderson's rise, Bass has been left in the dust. Expect games like his 11-and-10 performance vs. Philadelphia on Jan. 19 to be the exception and not the rule. ... Turkoglu has cooled offensively, but his numbers are decent across the board. He is averaging 9.4 points, 5.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds over his last five. ... Nelson is consistently offering good numbers in assists and steals, but his scoring remains pedestrian at best. Barring more games like the 16-7-6 stat line he put up on Jan. 19, we view him as no more than a low-end stopgap play. ... Arenas is averaging just 5.8 points and 3.4 assists over his last five.
Schedule: PHO, @TOR, MEM, DEN
Injury Report: Andres Nocioni (finger/late January)
Good Plays: Elton Brand , Jrue Holiday , Andre Iguodala
Toss Ups: Lou Williams , Thaddeus Young , Evan Turner , Spencer Hawes
Bad Plays: Jodie Meeks , Marreese Speights , Andres Nocioni
Notes: Williams has flipped a switch in January, averaging 17.8 points per game. His highest full-month scoring average this season had been 12.2 points per game. Expect him to benefit from high-volume matchups all week. ... A four-game week with three games against teams that allow 100-plus points per game could make fringe options like Young, Turner and Hawes appealing in deeper formats. They are merely stopgap measures, however, and lack consistency.
Schedule: @PHI, CHA, BOS, NO
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Good Plays: Steve Nash , Vince Carter
Toss Ups: Channing Frye , Grant Hill , Robin Lopez , Marcin Gortat
Bad Plays: Jared Dudley , Hakim Warrick , Goran Dragic , Josh Childress , Mickael Pietrus
Notes: The Suns are sticking with Lopez and Frye up front for now, but Gortat threw a wrench in those plans with a 16-and-12 effort on Jan. 19 in Cleveland off the bench. The production came at the expense of Lopez and could create another headache for Fantasy owners. Monitor this situation through the weekend to determine who the better plug-in play is at center. ... Frye remains steady, averaging 16.0 points and 5.8 rebounds with solid 3-point shooting over his last five contests. ... Expect the veteran Hill to be called upon heavily in games against Boston and New Orleans in Week 14. He remains a solid low-end play in most formats.
Portland Trail Blazers
Schedule: SAC, BOS
Injury Report: Marcus Camby (knee/February), Brandon Roy (knee/out indefinitely), Greg Oden (knee/out for the season)
Good Plays: LaMarcus Aldridge , Andre Miller
Toss Ups: Wesley Matthews , Nicolas Batum
Bad Plays: Rudy Fernandez , Brandon Roy , Joel Przybilla , Patty Mills , Dante Cunningham
Notes: With Camby out for at least a few weeks, the Blazers have a huge void to fill at center. Dante Cunningham got the nod initially with little success. He is a bit under-sized, but Przybilla -- the team's only other real option -- is not yet ready for big minutes. Add Przybilla in deeper leagues for now, but avoid activating either for now. Aldridge may end up seeing the most direct boost. ... Matthews is showing some inconsistency over recent games, but has the ability to drop 15-20 points per game on any given night. Given the two-game slate, however, it is a good week to give guys like Matthews and Batum a "breather" in cumulative formats. ... The Blazers are the only two-game team in Week 14.
Schedule: @POR, CHA, @LAL, NO
Injury Report: Francisco Garcia (calf/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Tyreke Evans , DeMarcus Cousins
Toss Ups: Beno Udrih , Carl Landry , Jason Thompson
Bad Plays: Samuel Dalembert , Francisco Garcia , Omri Casspi , Donte Greene
Notes: Udrih is hot again. Over his last five games, he has averaged an 18-4-4 stat line. Ride the hot hand. ... Landry has seen his playing time dip again, averaging just over 20 minutes per game over the last two weeks. Avoid him outside of deep, deep leagues despite the four-game slate. ... Thompson has been working the boards, averaging 7.6 per game over the last five. His scoring, however, has been highly erratic. He should be looked upon mainly just in leagues where he can be used as a stopgap center for Week 14.
|1.||Trail Blazers||SAC, BOS|
|2.||Pacers||ORL, NJ, @CHI|
|3.||Bulls||MIL, ORL, IND|
|4.||Jazz||@LAL, SA, MIN|
|5.||Warriors||SA, NO, CHA, UTA|
San Antonio Spurs
Schedule: @GS, @UTA, HOU
Injury Report: Matt Bonner (knee/day-to-day), James Anderson (foot/late January)
Good Plays: Tim Duncan , Manu Ginobili , Tony Parker
Toss Ups: Richard Jefferson , DeJuan Blair , George Hill
Bad Plays: Matt Bonner , Gary Neal , Antonio McDyess , Tiago Splitter , James Anderson
Notes: Despite playing 30-plus minuets regularly, Jefferson is averaging just 7.2 points and 4.4 rebounds over the last week. ... Blair could benefit from good inside matchups against the Warriors and Rockets in what should be a pair of high-scoring games. He has two double-doubles in his last three games, but is still merely a stopgap measure. ... Hill should be left for average-based play this week. He does have favorable matchups but loses value in cumulative leagues due to the three-game slate.
Schedule: MEM, PHI, MIL, @MIN
Injury Report: Linas Kleiza (knee/day-to-day), Leandro Barbosa (hamstring/late January), Sonny Weems (back/out indefinitely), Reggie Evans (foot/February)
Good Plays: Andrea Bargnani , Jose Calderon
Toss Ups: DeMar DeRozan , Amir Johnson , Ed Davis
Bad Plays: Leandro Barbosa , Jerryd Bayless , Sonny Weems , Linas Kleiza
Notes: DeRozan is seeing an increase in shot volume thanks to the absence of Barbosa. He has attempted at least 18 shots in back-to-back games, leading to back-to-back 20-point efforts. Expect that to continue in Week 14 with high-volume games against Memphis and Minnesota, though Barbosa could be back for the latter. ... Johnson is averaging 10.8 points and 8.6 rebounds over his last five games and makes for a decent low-end play. ... The Raptors are committing more playing time to Davis, who has responded well over the past week, averaging 10.7 points and 10.3 rebounds with a block per game. He should continue to get that type of run in the near future, though Kleiza's return could water things down some.
Schedule: @LAL, SA, MIN, @GS
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Good Plays: Deron Williams , Al Jefferson , Paul Millsap
Toss Ups: Andrei Kirilenko , C.J. Miles
Bad Plays: Mehmet Okur , Raja Bell , Gordon Hayward
Notes: Kirilenko has picked up the pace offensively, scoring 14 or more points in three of his last four games to go with his usual well-rounded contributions across the board. It is runs like this that make him easier to carry in category and Rotisserie formats, but he can be used in most leagues right now. ... Miles is averaging 16.2 points over his last five, but is not offering much outside of the scoring and 3-point shooting.
Schedule: @NY, DEN, @OKC, @MEM
Injury Report: Rashard Lewis (knee/day-to-day), Josh Howard (knee/February)
Good Plays: John Wall , Andray Blatche
Toss Ups: Rashard Lewis , Nick Young , JaVale McGee , Kirk Hinrich
Bad Plays: Al Thornton , Josh Howard , Yi Jianlian
Notes: Lewis is averaging 7.3 rebounds in 14 games with Washington after averaging just 4.2 through 25 games with Orlando. The change of scenery has done a lot of good for his Fantasy value. ... Expect Young's hot scoring hand to keep lighting it up against high-volume opponents in the Knicks, Nuggets and Grizzlies. ... Hinrich has been held under 10 points in three straight games and is not an advisable play.
