Bargnani scored eight points off the bench in the Nets' 116-111 loss to Charlotte on Wednesday. Since returning from his hamstring injury in early November, Bargnani has found himself in a unfamiliar backup role behind Brook Lopez. This has led to a major drop in playing time (12.9 MPG) so far this season compared to his career average 29.7 minutes per game. As a result, Bargnani's offensive production has not been what it was in past seasons.
Bargnani (hamstring) will play in Wednesday's season opener versus Chicago, Rod Boone of Newsday reports. Bargnani will not be restricted in minutes as he enters the 2015-16 season. However, he acts as Brook Lopez's top backup and will play limited minutes as a result.
Bargnani (hamstring) practiced with limited contact Thursday, Rod Boone of Newsday reports. Bargnani got some non-contact work in Wednesday, so Thursday's activity represents some progression for the big man. The hamstring injury prevented Bargnani from taking part in the Nets' preseason schedule, but the team remains hopeful that he'll be available off the bench for the Oct. 28 season opener versus the Bulls.
Nets center Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) said he's unsure whether or not he'll be ready for the start of the regular season, NorthJersey.com reports. Bargnani was limited to non-contact work Wednesday, and he's yet to play during the preseason. "I can't say I'm positive, but I think we're doing pretty good," Bargnani said. "Today, I'm going to do even more." The big man has a long injury history, and he's missed more than half of his team's games over the past four seasons. However, even if he's not ready for the start of the regular season, he doesn't figure to require an extended absence.
Bargnani (hamstring) was able to participate in the non-contact portions of Wednesday's practice, Andy Vasquez of The Record reports. Bargnani's ability to practice Wednesday, albeit limited, is a step in the right direction for a veteran who's struggled with injuries for the majority of his career. Although, it may be a bit optimistic to assume he'll be available for the season opener against Chicago on Oct. 28.
