Ajinca posted three points (1-1 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, and one assist in nine minutes during the Pelicans' 110-95 loss to the Grizzlies on Monday. Only twice in the new year has Ajinca earned 20-plus minutes in a contest. He has scored in double digits only five times all season, and there just isn't a lot of time leftover for him in the Pelicans' crowded big man rotation.
Ajinca recorded 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, and one block in 22 minutes during the Pelicans' 95-91 loss to the Lakers on Tuesday. Over the last four games, two of which Anthony Davis (back) has missed, Ajinca is averaging 5.8 points (45.0 FG, 0.0 3Pt, 100.0 FT), seven rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 16 minutes per appearance. With Omer Asik and Ajinca fighting for minutes at center, a position that Davis sometimes plays as well, that typically results in both international bigs possessing very little fantasy value. However, both are capable rebounders, though Ajinca is the much more serviceable offensive option.
Ajinca (coach's decision) didn't play in Friday's 94-88 loss to the Heat. Ajinca had been held out of the Pelicans' previous three games while nursing a strained left calf, but he has deemed ready to go in advance of the Christmas Day tilt. Despite Ajinca's availability, coach Alvin Gentry opted not to use the 7-foot-2 Frenchman with the Heat playing a small-ball lineup for roughly half the game, as opposing center Hassan Whiteside played only 25 minutes. Though he's now healthy, it looks like Ajinca could be forced to settle for limited run most nights behind starting center Omer Asik and Anthony Davis.
Ajinca (calf) was activated prior to Friday's game in Miami. It is unclear how much he will play on Christmas, but the Pelicans now have another usable body in the frontcourt. Ajinca was only averaging 12.8 minutes per game prior to the injury, so he has a very limited ceiling in daily leagues Friday.
Ajinca (calf) is officially questionable for Friday's game in Miami. This was essentially assumed, as Ajinca has missed three games with the injury, but appears to be nearing a return. Even when he does play, Ajinca does not have a ton of fantasy upside. The 7-foot-2 center is averaging 5.2 points and 4.0 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game.
