Mayo (hamstring) tallied no points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), six assists, and one rebound across 18 minutes in Tuesday's 112-111 win over the Celtics. Coach Jason Kidd made major alterations to his starting lineup in advance of Tuesday's game, ushering Mayo in for Michael Carter-Williams at point guard and Miles Plumlee for Greg Monroe at center. Both Mayo and Plumlee (18 minutes), who have primarily come off the bench this season, still ended up seeing far less court time than Carter-Williams (26 minutes) and Monroe (30 minutes), so Mayo, who was made his return Tuesday from an 11-game absence, won't make for a strong waiver claim even if he maintains hold on the starting job.
Mayo will start at point guard Tuesday against the Celtics, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports Mayo gets the nod over Michael Carter-Williams, but there's no guarantee Mayo will end up seeing more time on the court Tuesday with this surprising change from coach Jason Kidd. Especially since Mayo has been confined to the sidelines over the past 11 games with a hamstring injury.
Mayo (hamstring) is set to return Tuesday against the Celtics, CF Gardner of the Journal Sentinel reports. Mayo returned to practice last week but was held out of Friday's game against the Jazz as he continues to build back strength in his hamstring. Coach Jason Kidd, addressing the media Monday morning, confirmed that Mayo will be available Tuesday night, though he noted the Bucks will still be without John Henson, who's nursing a back injury. The veteran Mayo was a key bench piece during the Bucks surprisingly successful 2014-15 campaign, but he's fallen off a cliff this season, averaging just 9.1 points per game on 37.4 percent shooting, both career-lows by a fair margin.
Mayo (hamstring) went through practice on Thursday, but will not play in Friday's game against the Jazz, C.F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Mayo has missed the last nine games with a hamstring injury and is set to keep that streak alive when he sits out on Friday against the Jazz. He reportedly looked good while going through practice on Friday, so a return to the court could be coming sooner than expected. Despite optimism of a potential return, the Bucks could very well still hold him out through the All-Star break. Look for Jerryd Bayless and Rashad Vaughn to continue to pick up a few extra minutes in his place.
Mayo (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Kings, Aron Yohannes of BrewHoop.com reports. Mayo hasn't been given a timetable for his return from a sore right hamstring, but with few encouraging updates coming from the Bucks thus far during his soon-to-be nine-game absence, there's a good possibility that the swingman could be out until after the All-Star break. His unavailability will continue to open up more minutes for reserve guards Jerryd Bayless and Rashad Vaughn.
