Pleiss went for 9.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game in nine Utah and Las Vegas Summer League outings. Pleiss showcased facets of his game that most 7-footers couldn't even dream about. The 7-foot-3 center shot a lethal 47.2 percent from beyond-the-arc and knocked down 92.8 percent of his free-throws. For the most part, Pleiss remains relatively unknown outside of the Utah community, but in all likelihood, the big man will be with the Jazz come October. While he needs to improve on many aspects of his game, Pleiss' ability to shoot the ball from deep combined with his size could help him see some valuable minutes down the road.
Pleiss made a total of just 12 appearances during his rookie season with the Jazz. Pleiss wasn't expected to set the league on fire in his first year coming from FC Barcelona, but a total of 82 minutes spent on the court this season certainly fell short of expectations. The 26-year-old German remains under contract next season but he'll be firmly slotted behind Rudy Gobert while contending for minutes with Jeff Withey; all players being at least 7-0 and only able to play the center position.
Pleiss was recalled from the D-League's Idaho Stampede on Sunday, Jody Genessy of the Deseret News reports. Pleiss was recalled due to the Stampede's season coming to an end. He's played in just 10 games for the Jazz this season, none since January. He shouldn't be expected to have much of an impact in the final few games of the season.
Pleiss was assigned to the D-League's Idaho Stampede on Wednesday. The trek from Salt Lake City to Boise has been a familiar one for Pleiss at this point, and his standing as one of the last men on the Jazz's roster will result in him making his fifth stop with the D-League squad. The rookie has appeared in only 12 games all season as a deep reserve for the Jazz, and is averaging two points and 1.3 rebounds over 6.8 minutes.
Pleiss was assigned to the D-League's Idaho Stampede on Wednesday, Jody Genessy of the Deseret News reports. Pleiss was recalled from the D-League earlier in the day, but only so he could practice with the Jazz for the day. He'll head back to Boise and figures to languish in the D-League until an injury opens up an end-of-the-bench role in the Jazz frontcourt.
