  • Pablo Prigioni: Announces retirement
    By RotoWire Staff

Prigioni announced his retirement Monday via his personal Twitter account. Prigioni was waived by the Rockets prior to the start of the season, and he'll call it a career after failing to draw interest from other teams. The 39-year-old spent the majority of his career overseas before coming to the NBA as a 35-year-old rookie in 2012-13. Prigioni played two-plus seasons with the Knicks before being dealt to Houston in 2014-15. He spent last season with the Clippers, appearing in 59 games and making three starts. In 270 career NBA games, Prigioni holds career averages of 3.5 points, 2.8 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game.

  • Pablo Prigioni: Waived by Rockets
    By RotoWire Staff

Prigioni was waived by the Rockets on Monday, Chams Charania of The Vertical reports. The Rockets were initially expected to keep Prigioni and waive Tyler Ennis, but they've apparently changed course and will part ways with the 39-year-old veteran on the eve of the regular season. While Prigioni is a heady, pass-first point guard, he's not a strong three-point shooter and at his age may have struggled in Mike D'Antoni's uptempo offensive system. Retirement could now be in the cards for Prigioni, though he'll likely explore his options elsewhere before going down that path.

  • Prigioni (shoulder) scored 10 points (3-5 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT) and added one assist across 19 minutes in Friday's 114-99 preseason loss to the Spurs. Prigioni had sat out the previous two games with a left shoulder sprain, but was given some run Friday while the Rockets rested numerous key rotation players in the preseason finale. With Patrick Beverley expected to miss about three weeks after requiring a left knee scope, Prigioni will presumably move up to the second spot on the depth chart. However, Prigioni doesn't figure to see many minutes behind starter James Harden, who routinely sees one of the league's largest workloads.

  • Rockets' Pablo Prigioni: Questionable for Friday
    By RotoWire Staff

Prigioni (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Friday's preseason finale against the Spurs, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports. Prigioni has missed the last two games while dealing with a left shoulder strain and it wouldn't be surprising if he was ultimately held out Friday in order to avoid any further complications prior to the regular season. He's expected to open the season as the team's backup point guard, but if he misses additional time, Tyler Ennis and Gary Payton would likely see a bump in minutes. His status will likely be updated following the team's morning shootaround Friday.

  • Rockets' Pablo Prigioni: Ruled out for Wednesday
    By RotoWire Staff

Prigioni (shoulder) has been ruled out of Wednesday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports. Prigioni has dealt with a shoulder strain recently, with Wednesday's outing slated to be his second straight game on the sidelines. With both Prigioni and Patrick Beverley (knee) sitting out, look for a heavy dose of Tyler Ennis off the bench behind James Harden at point guard. The Rockets' preseason finale is schedule for Friday against the Spurs, which will give Prigioni one last opportunity for a tune-up prior to the regular season opener next week.
