Jackson was waived by the 76ers on Monday, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. Jackson is a player the 76ers like -- they both drafted him and brought him back after parting ways in 2014 -- but a training camp groin injury prevented him from making a real run at a spot on the Opening Night roster. He will open this season in the D-League, and could get another chance from the 76ers once he proves he is healthy.
Jackson (groin) will play Sunday and won't be on any sort of minutes restriction, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. Jackson made his preseason debut Friday, but notched just 12 minutes of playing time. Coach Brett Brown said Jackson will not be on any sort of restrictions Sunday and hopes to get him a ton of action. With Isaiah Canaan set to sit this game out, Jackson should receive the majority of reps at point guard. Jackson should be back to full health by the start of the regular season.
76ers point guard Pierre Jackson (groin) is on track to play in Friday's preseason game against the Wizards, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. Jackson, who has been sidelined throughout the Sixers' preseason schedule with the groin ailment, was able to resume practicing in a limited capacity Wednesday, and showed enough progress Thursday for coach Brett Brown to sign off on his exhibition debut. The 2013 second-round pick has seen his brief career with Philadelphia routinely disrupted by injuries, but with both Kendall Marshall (knee) and Tony Wroten (knee) expected to be sidelined during the start of the regular season, Jackson should have a good chance at winning a backup role at point guard.
76ers guard Pierre Jackson (groin) is expected to return in 8-10 days, Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer reports. Jackson was held out of training camp practices along with Tuesday's preseason opener against the Wizards due to injury. With his expected return set at a little over a week from now, he'll need to showcase his scoring ability in order to secure a roster spot by the time the regular season rolls around.
76ers guard Pierre Jackson (groin) will miss Tuesday's preseason opener against the Wizards, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Jackson has been bothered since the summer by the injury, and will need more time off to heal up. He's one of four point guards that will be on the bench with injuries Tuesday, leaving Isaiah Canaan and Scottie Wilbekin as the only healthy players capable of running the offense.
