McGruder produced 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 39 minutes during a 115-113 win over the Timberwolves on Monday. McGruder notched a season high with 15 points and tied his season highs of 39 minutes and three three-pointers made. The five rebounds and four assists also made for a nice all-around effort for the rookie. The great game comes as a bit of a surprise, as he was coming off an illness, but we'll see if he can continue the good form against the Bucks on Wednesday.
McGruder (illness) will start for Monday's tilt against the Timberwolves. It appears that the illness that caused McGruder to get pulled during Saturday's victory over the 76ers has subsided. Despite seeing 25.6 minutes per game, McGruder doesn't have a large role in the Heat's offense, as he's averaging just 5.8 points per game on 38.5 percent shooting on the season.
McGruder (illness) will join the Heat in Minnesota for Monday's game against the Timberwolves, but his status remains uncertain for the contest, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. The fact that McGruder -- who was pulled early in Saturday's win over the 76ers with the illness -- is traveling the team suggests the Heat aren't too concerned about the rookie swingman infecting the rest of his teammates. That being said, he'll likely need to put in a full workout during the Heat's morning shootaround Monday before the training staff signs off on his return. McGruder is averaging 7.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 26.0 minutes per game over his last five appearances, so his potential absence Monday likely wouldn't be felt in most fantasy circles.
McGruder will not return to Saturday's game against the 76ers due to an illness. He'll finish with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-2 FT) and one assist across 15 minutes. McGruder is a solid part of the Heat's rotation, averaging 27.7 minutes per game, but only provides 7.7 points per contest. It remains to be seen how serious his illness is, but his next chance to play will come Monday against the Timberwolves. If he misses time, Wayne Ellington will likely absorb a solid amount of his minutes.
McGruder finished with seven points (3-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and two assists in 20 minutes in Friday's 116-108 loss against the Bucks. McGruder is logging plenty of minutes, averaging 28.0 per game over seven outings in the month of January. However, he hasn't been terribly efficient or productive, so his value is rather limited for fantasy play despite a starting job.
