Ware was waived Friday by the Wizards, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports. Ware was fourth on the depth chart at point guard for the Wizards and wasn't attending training camp on a fully-guaranteed contract, so it was inevitable that he'd be let go at the conclusion of preseason play. He'll likely head overseas to continue his career.
Ware signed a training camp deal with the Wizards on Thursday, Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post reports. Ware was most recently in the NBA during the 2013-14 season, where he participated in 18 games between the Sixers and Nets. He spent some time with ASVEL Basket in France last season, but will attempt an NBA comeback by joining the Wizards for training camp. Ware has a long ways to go to make the team's final roster, but if he does, the 26-year-old guard would be merely a depth option behind the likes of John Wall and Trey Burke at point guard.
The Nets waived guard Casper Ware Saturday. Ware was brought over in a trade Friday, but the move was expected. The Nets are now down to a 15-man roster heading into the regular season.
The rumored deal of Nets point guard Marquis Teague to the 76ers apparently has come to fruition. ESPN is reporting Philadelphia is receiving him and a second-round pick for point guard Casper Ware. The Nets have already announced that Ware will be waived. Ware played briefly for the Sixers at the end of last season, averaging 5.3 points in nine games.
The 76ers signed guard Casper Ware to a second 10-day contract on Friday, the team announced. Ware has appeared in five games for the Sixers this season, averaging 3.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists over that span.
