Pargo signed a contract Monday to play in the D-League, Chris Reichert of Upside Motor reports. Pargo previously played in nine games with the Hornets in 2014-15, averaging 4.6 points in 8.1 minutes. Now 36 years old, Pargo will face an uphill battle in making it back to the NBA.
Though the Hornets waived Jannero Pargo in favor of Elliot Williams, Pargo may not be out of the organization's plans just yet. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Hornets could bring Pargo back into the fold once his back injury clears up. In nine games this season, Pargo was averaging 4.6 points per game.
The Hornets have signed guard Elliot Williams to a 10-day contract and waived guard Jannero Pargo, general manager Rich Cho announced, via the team's official website. Pargo has not played since Dec. 22 because of a back issue. He made nine appearances this season, averaging 4.6 points in 8.1 minutes. Williams played 19 games for the San Cruz Warriors of the D-League this season, averaging 20.1 points, 7.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36.3 minutes. He signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Jazz earlier in January before Utah chose not to keep him for the remainder of the season. Williams averaged 3.6 points, 0.8 assists and 0.6 rebounds in five games for the Jazz.
The Hornets plan to release guard Jannero Pargo, a source told Yahoo Sports. Once Pargo is released, the Hornets will sign Elliot Williams from the NBA Development League. Pargo has not played since Dec. 22 because of a back issue. Meanwhile, Williams has been playing in the D-League, but averaged 3.6 points and 0.8 assists in five games for the Jazz this season.
The Hornets will be without Jannero Pargo for Wednesday's game at San Antonio, reports the San Antonio Express-News. Pargo is dealing with a back issue and has not played since Dec. 22. Meanwhile, forward Marvin Williams is listed as questionable. Williams suffered a broken nose and concussion during last Saturday's game against the Knicks. Williams must pass concussion protocol before he can return to the court. The Hornets are 13-point underdogs.
