Haslem (illness) will play in Tuesday's game against the Spurs, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Haslem skipped Tuesday's morning shootaround with an illness but the added rest will now allow him to suit up against San Antonio. However, the veteran is seeing limited minutes per game this season and hasn't played more than 22 minutes in any of his 25 outings this season.
Haslem did not go through shootaround due to illness and is considered questionable to play Tuesday night against the Spurs, Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post reports. The veteran will likely end up a game-time call, but he's held only a minor role off the bench this season and has been a DNP-CD in each of Miami's last three games.
Haslem tallied no points (0-1 FG), three rebounds, and an assist over seven minutes in Monday's 111-103 loss to the Warriors. The absence of Hassan Whiteside (knee) allowed Haslem to play for the first time in five games. Even so, Haslem only saw seven minutes of action, and hasn't played more than 10 minutes since Dec. 16. It will be exceedingly difficult for him to gain fantasy relevance.
Haslem had two rebounds and one assist in seven minutes during the Heat's 116-109 win versus the Trail Blazers on Sunday. Haslem didn't attempt a single field goal on Sunday, and the veteran is far from a reliable contributor in fantasy. After appearing in only five of the Heat's first 16 games through the month of November, he has taken the floor in seven of the Heat's 10 contests in December while averaging 12 minutes per game over the month. Still, that likely has a lot to do with Josh McRoberts missing the past six games with knee soreness, and once McRoberts is able to return Haslem will almost assuredly have fewer on-court opportunities.
Haslem has not seen the court in eight of Miami's 11 games this season thus far. Haslem is at the point of his career where he serves as nothing more than a veteran presence, rather than someone who produces on the floor. The Heat simply have too much frontcourt depth for Haslem to carve out a legitimate role this season.
