Udrih (coach's decision) failed to play in a 106-101 win over the Cavaliers on Thursday. Udrih hasn't seen the floor since Feb. 8, and with coach Stan Van Gundy more concerned with securing a playoff spot than finding time for his deep reserves at this stage of the season, don't expect the 34-year-old to make many more appearances over the Pistons' final 27 contests.
Udrih tweaked his ankle in Tuesday's practice and didn't take part in Wednesday's session, Aaron McMann of MLive.com reports. The injury could put Udrih in jeopardy of missing Thursday's game against the Hornets, but the Pistons should have a better idea on his status following their morning shootaround. Udrih has been largely out of the rotation since early December, so his potential absence Thursday likely wouldn't have an impact on how coach Stan Van Gundy distributes the minutes in the backcourt.
Udrih (coach's decision) didn't see the floor in a 102-101 win over the Raptors on Sunday. Udrih has rarely seen the court outside of garbage time since Reggie Jackson returned from a knee injury in December, so it's no surprise that he was excluded from the rotation in a game that was decided by one point. The veteran is purely an insurance option at point guard behind Jackson and Ish Smith.
Udrih played 11 minutes and turned in four points (1-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four assists and one steal in a 127-107 loss to the Warriors on Thursday. It was Udrih's first appearance since Dec. 19, as he's been effectively squeezed out of the rotation since Reggie Jackson returned from a knee injury in early December. Barring another setback for Jackson or an injury to top backup Ish Smith, Udrih will fail to see the court in most competitive contests.
Udrih (coach's decision) didn't see the floor in Sunday's 98-92 loss to the Magic. With Reggie Jackson (knee) playing 23 minutes in his return to the lineup Sunday for his season debut, Ish Smith slotted in on the second unit as his primary backup, resulting in Udrih falling out of the rotation. The Pistons picked Udrih in training camp specifically to provide insurance at point guard while Jackson was sidelined, but it looks like the veteran won't have many opportunities when both players above him on the depth chart are healthy. Expect Udrih's season-long averages of 7.0 points, 3.4 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game to take significant hits from here on out.
