Kings' Rudy Gay: Bounces back with 20 points Saturday

Gay scored 20 points (7-20 FG, 6-6 FT) and added seven rebounds over 27 minutes in Saturday's 120-101 loss to the Warriors. Gay was able to bounce back from a nightmarish 1-for-13 performance on Friday versus the Timberwolves. Saturday's performance marked the third game in four contests where Gay has been at 20 points or better, and his resurgent effort versus Golden State helped to assure fantasy owners that Friday's result was simply an outlier. The veteran small forward continues to be an important cog of the Kings' offense, particularly when DeMarcus Cousins is sidelined.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Blows up for 36 points Wednesday

Gay tallied a season-best 36 points (13-21 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block over 36 minutes in Wednesday's 129-118 win over the Bucks. In his two games since returning from a strained left shoulder, Gay has looked better than he has all season, delivering back-to-back 13-for-21 showings from the field and collecting 64 points during that span. With the Kings missing DeMarcus Cousins (back) on Wednesday, Gay was saddled with more offensive responsibility and didn't disappoint, amassing 14 points during a 40-point first quarter for the Kings. Now that he seems to be settling into a rhythm, Gay should remain a compelling daily play on most nights even after Cousins is back.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Pours in season-high 28 points in Monday's loss

Gay (shoulder) scored a season-high 28 points (13-21 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT) with 10 rebounds over 42 minutes in Monday's 127-122 overtime loss to the Hornets. Gay clearly wasn't slowed down by his shoulder, turning in his best game of the season, albeit in a losing effort. It was Gay's second double-double in three games, but don't get accustomed to those numbers moving forward. DeMarcus Cousins left late in the game, so Gay may be asked to do more on offense if he misses any time.

      Kings' Rudy Gay: Starting Monday

Gay (shoulder) will start Monday's game at Charlotte, Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports. Gay missed one game as a result of a strained left shoulder, but in his first appearance since Thursday, he'll assume his typical role as the Kings' starting small forward. In his last three outings, he averaged 18 points (on 50 percent shooting), eight rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in 30 minutes.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Says he'll play Monday

Gay (shoulder) said after Monday's morning shootaround that he would return to the Kings' lineup later in the evening against the Hornets, Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports. Gay, who first suffered the left shoulder strain last Thursday against the Heat, was forced to miss one game with the injury, but it doesn't look like his absence will extend beyond that. The small forward's return will likely result in a move back to the bench for Darren Collison, who entered the lineup Saturday against the Magic with Gay sidelined. With his health seemingly secure heading into the week, Gay's fantasy owners should feel more than comfortable keeping him active.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Out for Saturday's game

Gay (shoulder) has been ruled out for Saturday's game, Jason Jones of the Sacremento Bee reports. Gay wasn't able to return to Thursday's game after sustaining a shoulder strain -- an injury that will now force the 29-year-old out of the starting lineup for the second time this season. That being said, the injury doesn't appear to be very serious so it's likely he will be able to return sometime next week. For now, Marco Belinelli or Omri Casspi could see additional time at small forward against the Magic with Gay sidelined.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Doubtful Saturday in Orlando

Gay (shoulder) is doubtful for Saturday's tilt in Orlando, James Ham of reports. Gay left Thursday's game with a shoulder strain and was unable to return. There is nothing to indicate the injury being serious, but the Kings will likely be cautious with Gay before they put him back on the floor. If he cannot go Saturday, his next opportunity will be Monday in Charlotte. Gay is currently averaging 17.4 pints, 6.8 boards, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 triples in 31 minutes per game.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Leaves game Thursday with shoulder injury

Gay left Thursday's game with a left shoulder strain and will not return, James Ham of CSN Bay Area reports. Gay was hit in the left shoulder late in the third quarter. It has now been diagnosed as a left shoulder strain and he'll be forced to sit out the rest of the game. Gay finishes Thursday's outing with 13 points (6-13 FG, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and a steal over 25 minutes. The severity of the injury is unclear at this point in time, so for now, consider him questionable for Saturday's matchup with the Magic.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Scores 27 in Sunday's win

Gay scored a season-high 27 points (10-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT) with six rebounds, three assists and a steal in 37 minutes during Sunday's win over the Raptors. After sitting out Friday due to a stomach flu, there was no way Gay was going to miss a chance to torment his former club. He's now scored 20 or more points in three of his last four games, and with DeMarcus Cousins on a rampage since returning from his Achilles strain and commanding the attention of opposing defenses, Gay should continue to see plenty of open looks.

Kings' Rudy Gay: Will start Sunday

Gay (illness) will start Sunday's game against the Raptors, James Ham of CSN reports. Gay was questionable coming in due to an illness, but he's listed as the starter at small forward on the Kings' game notes. The veteran will join DeMarcus Cousins and Willie Cauley-Stein in the frontcourt, while Ben McLemore and Rajon Rondo comprise the starting backcourt.
