      Report: Grizzlies to sign JaMychal Green instead of Tyler Thomas

      The Grizzlies will not sign forward Tyrus Thomas to another 10-day contract and will instead opt to sign forward JaMychal Green to a 10-day contract, reports The Commercial Appeal. Green played in four games for the Spurs this season and averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds.

      Grizzlies sign Tyrus Thomas to 10-day contract

      The Grizzlies have signed forward Tyrus Thomas to a 10-day contract, the team announced. There were reports recently that Thomas had worked out with the team, but Memphis didn't act immediately. Thomas has not played in the NBA since April of 2013. The Charlotte Bobcats, now Hornets, amnestied Thomas' contract, and no team picked him up. Thomas recently signed with the Iowa Energy of the D-League. In his two games with the club, he averaged 14.5 points and 7.0 rebounds.

      The Grizzlies have signed forward Tyrus Thomas to a 10-day contract, ESPN reports. Thomas hasn't played since appearing in 26 games during the 2012-2013 season. Over seven seasons, he's averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game over 400 games. He's scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in two recent NBA D-League games.

      Report: Tyrus Thomas worked out for the Grizzlies recently

      Former first-round draft pick Tyrus Thomas had a workout with the Grizzlies before signing in the D-League, according to Yahoo Sports. Thomas last played in the NBA back in April of 2013. His contract was amnestied by the Charlotte Bobcats at the time, and he failed to hook on with another club. Thomas recently told Yahoo Sports that he's "been miserable" since leaving the league. Memphis has been seeking a power forward, but ultimately decided not to sign Thomas.

      Bobcats waive Thomas

      The Bobcats waived forward Tyrus Thomas as part of the amnesty provision at the start of free agency, in order to clear room for the signing of Al Jefferson. Thomas had two years and $19 million left on his contract, and is now a free agent after making it through waivers.
