Grizzlies' Mike Conley: Posts team-high 16 points Saturday

Conley posted a team-high 16 points (5-12 FG, 6-6 FT), five assists, three rebounds, a pair of steals and a block over 32 minutes in Saturday's 92-82 loss to the Spurs. While not as prolific as in recent contests, Conley once again spearheaded Memphis' scoring efforts. It was the fifth consecutive double-digit scoring game for the veteran guard, although he failed to drain at least one three-pointer for the first time in five outings. After a couple of difficult nights in the early going this season, Conley has redeemed himself to fantasy owners and is one of the more dependable mid-tier point guard options in all formats.

Grizzlies' Mike Conley: Scores 26 points Friday

Conley contributed 26 points (10-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 34 minutes during the Grizzlies' 96-84 win versus the Rockets on Friday. Conley's hot week continued on Friday, and he has now posted 20 or more points in three straight games after accomplishing that only twice in the first 10 games. Fantasy owners who remained patient during his early-season struggles are being rewarded with solid play of late, and coach Dave Joerger has been adamant that Conley needs to assert himself offensively if the Grizzlies are going to be successful.

Grizzlies G Mike Conley to wear mask until comfortable without it

Conley has gotten off to a slow start in the preseason, posting averages of 6.0 points and 3.0 turnovers in 19 minutes per game. Still, he remains the team's top creator off the dribble, and he'll be relied on heavily to get good looks for the offense.

Report: Conley won't sign extension prior to 2016 free agency

The Grizzlies could be in store for back-to-back summers of uncertainty, according to ESPN.com. Memphis, already focused on Marc Gasol's pending free agency, will be concerned about the unlikelihood that Mike Conley signs an extension before becoming a free agent next year. Conley signed a five-year, $40 million deal in 2010 and is set to enter free agency at a time where the NBA salary cap is expected to rise. Conley averaged 15.8 points, 5.4 assists and 3 rebounds per game this season.
