Hornets' Spencer Hawes: Scores season-high 14 points

Hawes scored a season-high 14 points (4-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist, and one block in 17 minutes of action Tuesday against the Knicks. While it's nice to see him hit his season high in scoring, Hawes broke the double-digit scoring mark just twice this season so far, and he's not playing enough minutes to be worth owning in most leagues.

Hornets' Spencer Hawes: Probable for Friday game against Bulls

Hawes (ankle) is probable for Friday's game against the Bulls, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports. Hawes is dealing with a right ankle sprain. The injury doesn't appear to be serious at this time, and he shouldn't miss any extended periods of play. With Cody Zeller questionable for Friday's game, it is likely that Hawes will play to supplement the Hornets' frontcourt.

Hornets' Spencer Hawes: Scores season-high 13 in win

Hawes scored a season-high 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 3Pt), grabbed three rebounds, and dished out two assists over 20 minutes in Tuesday's 130-105 win over the Bulls. Hawes was one of seven players to finish in double figures for the Hornets, who were able to dole out a healthy amount of playing time to their reserves in the resounding victory. The well-traveled big man actually outpaced Cody Zeller, Tyler Hansbrough, and Frank Kaminsky for minutes among the frontcourt players on the bench, but he'll likely only remain ahead of Hansbrough and Kaminsky in the pecking order going forward. Zeller seems to be locked in as the Hornets' third interior player, but saw limited minutes Tuesday after recently losing 10 pounds following a bout with dehydration.

Hornets' Spencer Hawes: Shoots 13 percent in loss

Hawes made one of eight shots for two points and grabbed four rebounds in 18 minutes Sunday against Atlanta. Hawes did not have a good day Sunday. The center got a decent amount of minutes but simply could not produce, shooting a measly 13 percent. Hawes will continue to see bench minutes moving forward, but don't expect too much of an uptick in his stats as he has been averaging just 6 points and 4 rebounds per game to this point of the season.

Hornets deal Lance Stephenson for Spencer Hawes, Matt Barnes

The Hornets have acquired both Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes in a trade with the Clippers. Charlotte sent the Clippers Lance Stephenson in return. Barnes, however, isn't likely to stay with the Hornets very long. The report also states that Barnes is likely to be bought out of his contract before July 1 so that the Hornets only owe him $1 million of the $3.5 million on the deal. Barnes averaged 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this past season. Hawes averaged 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds.
