Pacers' Lavoy Allen: Resurfaces as rotation option

Allen accrued eight points (4-7 FG, 0-1 FT), five rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot over 24 minutes in Monday's loss to the Bulls. After being dropped from the rotation entirely for a Nov. 9 game against the Magic, Allen has since reemerged as one of the first players off the bench for coach Frank Vogel. He's seen between 18 and 28 minutes over the last three games, averaging a modest 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and one assist during that span.

Pacers' Lavoy Allen: Returns to bench role Sunday

Allen came off the bench Sunday against the Cavaliers, scoring no points (0-5 FG) in 25 minutes. He did manage to collect eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. After starting at power forward for the Pacers' last two games, Allen moved back to the bench Sunday, with Jordan Hill entering the lineup. The starting spot is expected to be returned to C.J. Miles (ankle) once he's ready to play, and will likely result in Allen seeing a downgrade in his minutes count. That said, Allen should still remain a member of coach Frank Vogel's rotation.

Pacers' Lavoy Allen: Will start Friday against Heat

Allen will start again Friday against the Heat. With C.J. Miles out with an ankle injury, Allen has been allotted a large portion of minutes and has produced accordingly, scoring seven points and gathering 11 rebounds in 29 minutes Wednesday against the Celtics. The 26-year-old forward has done a solid job for the Pacers in lieu of Indiana's injuries and is a sneaky, low-price play in daily fantasy on Friday.

Pacers' Lavoy Allen: Starts Wednesday versus Celtics

Allen will start Wednesday against the Celtics. With both Ian Mahinmi and C.J. Miles out, the Pacers will turn to the 26-year-old big man to start. Allen has seen solid minutes off the bench, averaging 15.8 minutes per game with 2.3 PPG and 3.5 RPG. This starting role could increase his minutes and production for the time being.

Pacers' Lavoy Allen: Totals eight points, 10 rebounds Tuesday

Allen collected eight points (3-7 FG, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, and an assist over 31 minutes in Tuesday's 103-94 loss to the Bulls. Allen received what was by far his most extensive playing time of the preseason, and responded with a highly productive night on the boards in particular. The young veteran has shown the ability to contribute on both ends of the floor when receiving minutes in the teens, which is likely the allotment he is destined for on most nights during the regular season, provided he is on the Pacers final roster.

Pacers expect Lavoy Allen, Ian Mahinmi to play Friday

Pacers coach Frank Vogel said Wednesday that power forward Lavoy Allen (knee) and Ian Mahinmi (ankle) "should be good to go in Philadelphia" Friday against the 76ers. Allen has missed the team's last six games while dealing with a sore right knee. Mahinmi returned to action in the team's last game before the All-Star break after having missed the previous three due to an ankle sprain. If both are available, the Pacers will only be down Paul George heading into post-break play.
