Timberwolves' Nikola Pekovic: Progresses to two-on-none work

Pekovic (Achilles) took some two-on-none pick and roll work with Ricky Rubio on Wednesday, and seems to be moving forward in his progression back to the court, Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press reports. Pekovic is still ruled out while he recovers from Achille's tendon surgery, but this is a promising sign as he moves toward full speed against. Pekovic likely won't return until some point in December, and is likely to be buried on the depth chart behind the young and talented 2015 No. 1 draft pick Karl Anthony-Towns, and Gorgui Dieng.

Timberwolves' Nikola Pekovic: Still out against the Bucks

Pekovic is still considered out for Tuesday's preseason game against the Bucks. Pekovic is still rehabbing his Achilles injury from last season and will continue to miss games throughout the regular season until he is healthy. With Gorgui Dieng, Adrien Payne, Kevin Garnett, and Anthony Karl-Towns in place at the post, the Timberwolves will most likely be slow to bring Pekovic back from his injury.

Timberwolves' Nikola Pekovic: Works out with medicine ball Monday

Pekovic (Achilles) was working out with a medicine ball at Monday's practice. Pekovic appeared to be in good shape during the workout, as he was reportedly tossing the medicine ball up to 20 rows up the stands from the sidelines. The big man will continue to work on core exercises and implement other light activity as he continues to rehab his right Achilles' tendon, but there's been no word on when he might be cleared to resume basketball-related activities. He's expected to sit out at least the first several weeks of the regular season.

Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic still several weeks away

Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic admitted Monday that he's still seven or eight weeks away from full healthy, Derek James of 1500 ESPN reports. Pekovic has been plagued by ankle/Achilles issues for the last couple of seasons, and he was limited to only 31 games in 2014-15. He underwent Achilles surgery in April and was initially given a 5-6 month timetable. It appears as though he's slightly behind in his recovery, and at this point it's very unlikely that he's available when the regular season begins at the end of October. Even when healthy, Pekovic figures to see a reduced role, as Kevin Garnett is expected to start at center. The Wolves also feature Gorgui Dieng, as well as rookie Karl Anthony Towns, who will see minutes at both power forward and center.
