Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic still several weeks away

Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic admitted Monday that he's still seven or eight weeks away from full healthy, Derek James of 1500 ESPN reports. Pekovic has been plagued by ankle/Achilles issues for the last couple of seasons, and he was limited to only 31 games in 2014-15. He underwent Achilles surgery in April and was initially given a 5-6 month timetable. It appears as though he's slightly behind in his recovery, and at this point it's very unlikely that he's available when the regular season begins at the end of October. Even when healthy, Pekovic figures to see a reduced role, as Kevin Garnett is expected to start at center. The Wolves also feature Gorgui Dieng, as well as rookie Karl Anthony Towns, who will see minutes at both power forward and center.
