Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Finds rejuvenation in Utah

Mack benefited from a midseason trade to Utah, after which he became the team's starting point guard and averaged just over 31 minutes during the final 28 games of the season. Mack made just 16 appearances for the Hawks this season at an average of only 6.8 minutes per game while firmly slotted behind both Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder. Utah's lack of depth at point guard clearly showed when Mack was immediately inserted into the starting five over rookie Raul Neto on Feb. 21. However, Mack's path to playing time next season becomes more convoluted since Dante Exum (knee) and Alec Burks (knee) will both be back in the mix for significant playing time at point guard. In fact, Utah holds a team option for Mack's contract next season, so there's a possibility he won't even return if the organization intends to roll with a combination of Exum, Burks, Neto, and Trey Burke.

    Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Double-double in Sunday's win

Mack scored 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT) while adding 12 assists, four rebounds and a steal in 38 minutes during Sunday's win over the Bucks. He's proven to be an outstanding pickup for the Jazz, and Mack is now averaging 16.8 points, 8.7 assists, 5.3 boards, 2.3 threes and 0.8 steals over the last six games. Utah's also won five of those games as they make a late push for a playoff spot, so expect Mack to continue seeing big minutes down the stretch as the team's starting point guard.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Records 15 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's loss

Mack recorded 15 points (5-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight assists, five rebounds, and a steal in 34 minutes during Saturday's loss to the Bulls. Mack continues to run away with the starting point guard spot in Utah, finishing with 14-plus points for his fifth consecutive game. He's also recorded eight or more assists in four straight contests and his hit multiple threes in four of his last five. Mack continues to be a surprising source of scoring and assists.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Double-doubles in Thursday blowout win

Mack tallied 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-2 3Pt), 10 assists and eight rebounds over 29 minutes in Thursday's 103-69 victory over the Suns. The fifth-year pro continued his recent stretch of impressive play, posting his second consecutive double-double and fourth straight game with double-digit scoring. After an inconsistent first few games in a Jazz uniform, Mack has proven to be one of the best trade-deadline acquisitions in the league and has wrested the starting point guard job from Raul Neto. He's contributed from long range as well, now having drained at least one three in eight straight contests.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Posts 14 points to go with eight dimes Sunday

Mack managed 14 points (5-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt), eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals across 30 minutes during the Jazz's 108-99 victory over the Kings on Sunday. Mack did commit five turnovers, but he recorded a season high four made threes while matching season highs in assists and steals. Mack continues to hold down the fort as the Jazz's starting point guard, and he is averaging 11.1 points (38.7 FG, 50.0 3Pt, 69.2 FT), 5.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.6 threes, and one steal in 29 minutes per contest through seven March matchups.

    Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Career-high 27 points in Friday's win

Mack scored a career-high 27 points (11-17 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT) while adding four assists and three rebounds in 34 minutes during Friday's win over the Wizards. He's now averaging 11.7 points, 4.2 assists, 3.2 boards, 1.0 threes and 0.9 steals in 11 games since joining the Jazz, and while Mack doesn't have any kind of track record of fantasy viability, his spot in the starting lineup for Utah appears to be secure. Don't be surprised if he's able to better those averages down the stretch as he continues to adapt to his new role and teammates.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Scores 12 points, dishes eight dimes Friday

Mack managed 12 points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-6 FT), eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals in 29 minutes during the Jazz's 94-88 loss against the Grizzlies on Friday. After starting out his Jazz tenure with back-to-back 16 and 17-point performances, Mack has had mixed results over the last five contests. During the Jazz's five-game losing streak, he is averaging 9.2 points (40.4 FG, 27.3 3Pt, 55.6 FT), 3.6 assists to 2.6 turnovers, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 27 minutes per matchup. However, Mack will have a chance to build on Friday's strong showing when the Jazz face a Pelicans team on Saturday whose top perimeter defender (Jrue Holiday) is currently coming off the bench and may be tasked with covering Rodney Hood regardless.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Leads team in scoring versus Celtics

Mack started and co-led the Jazz with 18 points (8-13 FG, 0-1 FT, 2-3 3 Pt) to go along with two rebounds, two steals and one assist in 30 minutes during Monday's loss to the Celtics. The newly-acquired guard played off the ball more as Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood distributed, and he responded with his highest scoring total of the season. Mack has averaged just under 28 minutes per game since joining Utah, scoring 16 points or better three times in five games, and he seems to be settling into his new role.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Plays 32 minutes against Houston

Mack recorded 17 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-8 FT), one rebound, two assists, and one steal during his 32-minute debut as a starter against the Rockets on Tuesday. Mack has likely supplanted Raul Neto as Utah's starting point guard during the season ahead since he presents more of a threat to score while also providing similar defensive abilities. The only impediment stopping Mack from seeing upwards of 30 minutes per game will be the eventual return of Alec Burks (ankle), although Mack will still be the favorite to start at point guard when Burks makes his long-awaited comeback.

Jazz's Shelvin Mack: Will start in Tuesday's contest

Mack will move into the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Houston. It was speculated in the lead up to the game that Mack would get the start over Raul Neto, and that has been confirmed. Mack played 24 minutes in his Jazz debut on Sunday and Tuesday will mark his first start for the team. Look for him to see increased minutes in the starting role and for Neto to still play a large role off of the bench.
