Hawks' Shelvin Mack: Plays ahead of Schroder for second game in a row

Mack provided 10 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt), five assists, one rebound, and one steal across 27 minutes in Sunday's 111-97 loss to the Knicks. Mack has been out of the rotation for much of the season, but it looks like he's taken control of the backup point guard job, as Dennis Schroder has been left on the bench in two straight games in coach's decisions. The Hawks have more invested in Schroder over the long haul, so it's expected that he'll eventually regain the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Teague, but Mack will at least pick up some low-end value in very deep formats in the short term.

Hawks' Shelvin Mack: Reenters rotation Tuesday

Mack scored five points (2-9 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT) to go with three assists over 14 minutes in Tuesday's 121-115 loss to the Rockets. Mack's appearances have typically been limited to blowouts this season, so it was somewhat surprising to see him get more than 10 minutes in a game the Hawks won by just six points. Don't expect it to become a common occurrence for Mack, who didn't do much to take advantage of the opportunity by clanking all five of his three-point attempts.

Hawks' Shelvin Mack: Seeing usage off bench, but not major minutes

Mack has played in each of the Hawks' last six games, seeing between one and 19 minutes of court time in those contests. Mack saw the high end of that range when the Hawks' backcourt was depleted by the absences of Jeff Teague (ankle) and Kent Bazemore (ankle), but with Teague back the last two games, Mack has seen a combined total of nine minutes. As the Hawks' third-string point guard, Mack can't count on seeing much playing time behind Teague, an All-Star last season, and Dennis Schroder, who is regarded as one of the league's top backups.

Hawks' Shelvin Mack: Fails to see action Monday

Mack was unable to see any action in the Hawks' loss Monday to Minnesota. Mack has only appeared in one game for Atlanta to this point in the season and it's not looking like he'll be seeing the court much throughout the year moving forward. He continues to be slotted behind Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder at point guard and will not be stealing many minutes from them.

Hawks' Shelvin Mack: Doesn't see any action Sunday

Mack was a DNP-CD in Atlanta's win Sunday against the Hornets. It is going to be a continuous battle for Mack to see the court throughout the 2015-16 season as long as fellow point guards Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder stay healthy. With those two in the lineup, there is not much playing time for Mack to receive on a regular basis.

Hawks' Shelvin Mack good to go following shoulder surgery

Hawks guard Shelvin Mack (shoulder) has been fully cleared for all basketball activities and was close to a full participant in Tuesday's training camp practice, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. The Hawks could opt to limit Mack's minutes in the preseason after he underwent shoulder surgery last spring, but it appears there's nothing to worry about on the health front. After bouncing around between the NBA and the D-League in his first two seasons in the league, Mack appears to have found a home in Atlanta, where he proved to be a capable third point guard behind Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder in 2014-15. The speedy Schroder seems more likely than Mack to receive a jump in minutes this coming season, but that shouldn't result in Mack's removal from the rotation entirely. Still, he'll probably need an injury or two before enjoying even fleeting fantasy relevance.
