Nets' Willie Reed: Returns to team Saturday, plays 12 minutes

Reed (personal) returned to the court in Saturday's 114-86 loss to the Hawks, finishing with three points (1-2 FG, 1-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Reed missed Friday's game against the Trail Blazers, but rejoined the Nets in time for the second half of their back-to-back set. He's seen only marginal playing time as a member of the Nets' second unit this season, averaging four points and 2.8 rebounds across 9.6 minutes per contest.

Nets' Willie Reed: Out of Friday's contest

Reed will miss Friday's game against the Trail Blazers due to personal reasons, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN.com reports. The loss of Reed on Friday won't be too significant, as he is only averaging 10 minutes per game through 20 games this season. Fellow power forward Thomas Robinson is a likely benefactor of his bench minutes for the night. Reed's next chance to return to the court will be on Saturday when the Nets visit the Hawks.

Nets' Willie Reed: Seeing light minutes at end of bench

Reed posted two points (1-2 FG) across four minutes in Sunday's 100-85 loss to the Timberwolves. Reed has seen the floor in six straight games to solidify a low-end spot in the Nets' rotation, but it'll be difficult for him to attain much fantasy appeal when he's consistently seeing under 10 minutes. Over his eight appearances this season, Reed is averaging just 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds.

    Nets' Willie Reed: Active Saturday

Reed (finger) is active for Saturday's game in Cleveland. He had been out all season after tearing the UCL in his right thumb during the preseason. While Reed is active Saturday, he is not a lock to see much action, and it would be best to take a wait and see approach in fantasy leagues.

Thumb injury has Nets PF Willie Reed out 6-8 weeks

Nets power forward Willie Reed will be out 6-8 weeks following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN reports. Reed tore the UCL in his thumb Wednesday and will be out until at least December.

Nets F Willie Reed suffers ligament tear in thumb

Nets forward Willie Reed tore the UCL in his right thumb during Wednesday's preseason game against the Celtics, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN.com reports. Reed is scheduled to undergo surgery on the thumb Friday, after which the Nets should have an idea of how long of a recovery timetable he'll face. The forward had just gotten over a right quad strain that had been bothering him through much of camp, but the injury he suffered in Wednesday's game sounds like it could be even more significant. Even if he had stayed healthy during camp, Reed was viewed as a long shot to make the Nets' roster out of training camp.

Nets PF Willie Reed makes preseason debut Wednesday

Nets point forward Willie Reed (right quadriceps strain) made his preseason debut Wednesday against the Celtics. He played five minutes and went 0 for 2 from the field. Reed likely doesn't have much guaranteed money attached to the one-year deal he signed with the Nets prior to training camp, so the fact he missed the team's first three preseason games due to injury may be the death blow to his hopes of winning a roster spot. Coach Lionel Hollins figures to hand Reed more minutes in the exhibitions to come in an effort to see what the forward can do, but he'll really need to fill up the stat sheet in order to make a compelling case to stick with the Nets.

Brooklyn Nets' Willie Reed Sitting out Thursday

Reed (quadriceps) will sit out Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons. It's the second straight game Reed will miss on account of the right quad strain. Unless he's able to get back on the court in short order and play out of his mind for the remainder of the preseason, Reed stands minimal chance of cracking the Nets' opening night roster.

Nets' Willie Reed looking to make most out of latest opportunity

Though Willie Reed has yet to appear in a regular-season NBA game, the 25-year-old forward is eager for his most recent chance after signing a $500,000 contract with the Nets last week. Reed has been playing in the D-League over the past three years, getting a couple of call-ups by the Kings and Grizzlies over that time. But he never got a chance to play in a game during either opportunity. Now Reed is seizing his latest opportunity with the Nets. "I'm very excited about this opportunity," Reed said, per the New York Post. "God makes no mistakes. I didn't stick the first couple times, but he's put me in the perfect position now." The Nets are prepared to give Reed a strong look during the summer league, possibly as a center to play behind Brook Lopez. "I think I can be a really good backup five to Brook," Reed said. "Playing with the second unit, we can play a lot faster, and bring speed. "But whatever coach needs me to do, I'm happy to give him."
