Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Without timetable for return

Carroll (knee) told the media Monday that he's currently without a timetable for a return to the court, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports reports. Carroll was originally given a 6-8 week recovery period in early January following the arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. However, that initial estimate doesn't seem to be trustworthy any further, and it would be fairly surprising if he was able to rejoin his teammates before the All-Star Game on Feb. 13.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Could miss around six-to-eight weeks

The early estimate for Carroll's recovery from an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee ranges between six-and-eight weeks, Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star reports. Carroll had been operating at less than 100 percent after returning for five games following a nine-game absence due to a right knee contusion, and after he experienced renewed swelling following Sunday's loss to the Bulls, both player and team determined surgery was needed to address the matter. The knee scope should improve Carroll's long-term outlook for the duration of his four-year, $60 million contract, but his multi-week absence will deprive the Raptors of their top perimeter defender and three-point threat right in the meat of the regular-season schedule. During Carroll's extended hiatus, coach Dwane Casey will give James Johnson the first opportunity to start at small forward, but the playing time will likely be distributed fairly fluidly between Johnson, Terrence Ross, and Patrick Patterson.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Will undergo arthroscopic surgery

Carroll (knee) will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday morning. There is no clear timetable for Carroll's return, the Raptors will release more information when appropriate. Carroll missed nine games in December after he bruised his right knee. It appeared that he had overcome the injury, playing in five straight games, with coaching staff limiting him to 26 minutes per contest in order to prevent any further injury. However their efforts were in vain, as Carroll experienced more swelling on his knee earlier this week, which forced him to sit out of Monday's loss to the Cavaliers. The Raptors have now opted for surgery to hopefully put Carroll's knee troubles to rest. In his absence Terrence Ross and James Johnson will see more action at small forward.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Out for Monday's game

Carroll (knee) has been ruled out of Monday night's game against the Cavaliers. Carroll is dealing with some swelling in his right knee, which will cause him to spend the night on the bench. The injury is likely related to the bruising on his right knee which caused him to miss nine games at the end of December. He hasn't played more than 26 minutes since returning from the injury a little over a week ago. The Raptors will once again have to turn to James Johnson and Terrence Ross for major minutes at small forward.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Scores 10 points Sunday

Carroll provided 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt) and three rebounds across 24 minutes in Sunday's 115-113 loss to the Bulls. The Raptors continue to restrict Carroll's playing time in his return from a knee bruise, as he's failed to play more than 26 minutes in any of his first five games back. While his minutes remain a bit limited, Carroll is best relegated to mid-sized or deeper formats, though his fantasy value should rise as he gets further removed from the injury.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Minutes will remain limited

Head coach Dwayne Casey said Carroll will be on a minutes limit "until (the medical staff) tells me differently," Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports. Carroll has not played more than 26 minutes in a game since returning to action last Saturday, and his workload -- and effective as a fantasy option, as well -- will continue to be limited until he has his game legs back under him.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Plays 26 minutes Wednesday

Carroll had seven points (2-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-5 FT), seven rebounds, and one block in 26 minutes during the Raptors' 94-91 win over the Wizards on Wednesday. Carroll is averaging eight points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals, 0.3 assists, and 0.3 blocks during 23 minutes per contest in three games since his return to the lineup on Saturday versus the Bucks. Carroll was out for a few weeks, but will likely regain a larger load of minutes in due time as he slowly works himself back from a bad knee bruise. Still, he is not a guy who frequently fill up box scores, so his value will likely be limited to somewhat deeper leagues even once he starts earning a full dose of court time.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Returns to starting lineup

Carroll (knee) will return to the starting lineup Monday, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports. After missing nine games, Carroll returned to action Wednesday off the bench for Toronto. He provided seven points, two rebounds, one steal, and one three in 18 minutes. Although Carroll is returning to the starting lineup, he will likely still be on some sort of minute restriction as he is eased back into his role.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: Returns to action Saturday

Carroll (knee) scored seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt) while adding two rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes off the bench during Saturday's win over the Bucks. He was on a minutes restriction after missing the previous nine games and James Johnson remained in the starting lineup, but Carroll emerged from Saturday's win without re-aggravating his knee injury and should resume his starting role as soon as he gets his legs back under him.

Raptors' DeMarre Carroll: To come off the bench Saturday on minutes restriction

Carroll (knee) will play on a minutes restriction Saturday but is not in the starting lineup, Doug Smith of The Star reports. Carroll will return to the floor Saturday after missing nine games with a knee contusion. However, he will be slowly worked back into the rotation as James Johnson will get the start at small forward while Carroll plays on a minutes restriction off the bench against Milwaukee.
