    Clippers' Paul Pierce: Resting Monday

Pierce will sit out Monday night against the 76ers to rest, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports. Pierce is not dealing with an injury, but the Clippers will simply take advantage of a soft spot in the schedule to get the veteran an extra day of rest. Wes Johnson will start in Pierce's place Monday, and it's likely Pierce will return to availability Wednesday in Boston as the Clips finish out their pre-All-Star break schedule.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Held scoreless in return from rest

Pierce didn't score (0-6 FG, 0-5 3Pt) and added two assists and one rebound over 16 minutes in Sunday's 120-93 win over the Bulls. Though Pierce received Friday's game against the Lakers off for rest, it didn't appear to do him any good Sunday. He was held scoreless for the eighth time this season, and finished January with averages of 7.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists across 19.2 minutes.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Back in the starting lineup Sunday

Pierce (rest) will return to the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Bulls, Bulls play-by-play announcer Chuck Swirsky reports. Pierce sat out Friday's game for rest, but is back in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Bulls. He's averaging just under 18 minutes per game so far this season, so expect a similar workload against the Bulls. Pierce has reached double-digit points in just one of his last four games.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Will sit out Friday

Pierce will sit out Friday's game versus the Lakers to rest, Lakers' sideline reporter Mike Trudell reports. Pierce is simply getting a night off to rest Friday. Expect him to return to action Sunday when the Clippers take on the Bulls. Pierce is averaging 5.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.1 threes in 18 minutes per game this season.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Plays 15 minutes Wednesday

Pierce provided five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, and one block in 15 minutes during the Clippers' 85-83 win against the Hawks on Wednesday. Pierce continues to earn starts with Blake Griffin sustaining a hand injury. However, Pierce's presence in the starting five isn't resulting in much extra time, and it might be fairly foolish to expect 20 plus minutes per night from the 38-year-old forward.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Pulls down season-high nine boards in win

Pierce supplied 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt) and nine rebounds across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 104-90 victory over the Heat. Pierce's rebound total was a season high, and was an important contribution on a night the Clippers were without their main controller on the glass, DeAndre Jordan (illness). Though it's tough to count on Pierce to regularly provide close to 10 boards in any contest, double-digit scoring games have been showing up more frequently for the cagey veteran. He's cleared at least 13 points in four of his last eight games.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Scores 17 points, hits five treys in win

Pierce tallied 17 points (5-9 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two steals, and one assist across 24 minutes in Wednesday's 109-98 win over the Trail Blazers. After struggling through much of the first two months of the season, Pierce has begun to hit something of a stride while Blake Griffin (quad) has been sidelined for the last six games. He's since entered the starting lineup and has averaged 12.8 points (on 47.6% shooting), 4.8 rebounds, and three treys while appearing in five of those six contests. While it's good to see that Pierce still has something left in the tank, the Clippers have handed him more than 25 minutes of playing time in just one of those six contests, so it's hard to envision his role expanding any further.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Will start Wednesday in Portland

Pierce draws the start Wednesday in Portland, Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com reports. After missing his previous game, Pierce will return to the starting lineup Wednesday. Pierce had started the previous three games before his missed game. He averaged 9.0 points, 5.0 boards, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.7 blocks, and 1.7 triples in those three starts.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Will not play Saturday

Pierce (rest) will not play Saturday. Pierce will be replaced by Wesley Johnson in the starting lineup as the Clippers prepare to take on the 76ers. Johnson has seen his minutes rise with Blake Griffin out due to a partially torn left quad tendon and he's responded nicely, scoring 23 points and recording eight rebounds in the last three games.

Clippers' Paul Pierce: Scores 13 points Wednesday

Pierce posted 13 points (4-9 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 21 minutes during the Clippers' 122-117 win versus the Hornets on Wednesday. Pierce has performed well for the Clippers, and he is undoubtedly due to produce more during Blake Griffin's absence over the next couple weeks as a starter. Still, the 38-year-old veteran has seen 30 minutes only twice this season, and is averaging 22 minutes in the three games since Griffin got hurt.
