Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Double-double versus New Orleans

Dieng had a double-double with 12 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 FT, 1-2 3Pt) and 12 rebounds in addition to four assists and one block in 31 minutes of action during Monday's loss to New Orleans. The third-year pro started for the seventh consecutive game and registered his fifth double-double during that stretch, to go along with averages of 17.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and three assists. Dieng also hit his second three-pointer of the season Monday, adding a cherry on top of another productive fantasy outing. If Dieng keeps producing at this rate, the presence of Niokla Pekovic and the eventual return of Kevin Garnett may not diminish his role much, as the Timberwolves look toward the future.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Fills out the stat sheet in Saturday's win

Dieng contributed 24 points (10-13 FG, 0-1 3PT, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds and seven assists over 41 minutes in Saturday's win against the Bulls. Dieng has been enjoying a very productive couple of weeks, averaging 17.4 points and 9.9 rebounds over his last seven games. He has thrived alongside rookie Karl-Anthony Towns and is taking advantage of Kevin Garnett's prolonged absence. As long as his minutes mark stays around 30 minutes, he is capable of continuing his productive. However, it remains to be seen if these heavy minutes continue.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Collects seventh double-double in Wednesday's win

Dieng contributed 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-5 FT) and grabbed 10 rebounds in 31 minutes during Wednesday's victory over the Clippers. With Kevin Garnett and Nikola Pekovic still out, Dieng played 30-plus minutes in his fourth consecutive game and tallied his seventh double-double of the season. He's played well during his increase in minutes and provides a formidable inside presence alongside Karl-Anthony Towns in the front court. Still, it's hard to envision Dieng's minutes remaining at this level once the Timberwolves return to health.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Delivers 19-6-5 showing Tuesday

Dieng dropped 19 points (6-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 7-9 FT), six rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 37 minutes during the Timberwolves' 119-115 loss to the Lakers on Tuesday. Dieng's five assists matched his season-high, and he has now seen 37 or more minutes in three straight match-ups. With Kevin Garnett (knee) and Nikola Pekovic (foot) ailing, Dieng has been called upon to play heavy minutes lately, and he has responded with extremely respectable results. Over the last five games, Dieng has managed 17.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 33 minutes per appearance. It's unclear how long K.G. and Pekovic will remain sidelined, but when they do return it's safe to say Dieng will probably see his minutes head south of 30 per once again.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Another double-double in Sunday's loss

Dieng scored 13 points (4-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT) while adding 10 rebounds, two assists and a block in 38 minutes during Sunday's loss to the Trail Blazers. Since moving into the starting lineup three games ago, Dieng is averaging 18.0 points, 11.3 boards and 1.0 steals in 34.7 minutes while shooting 63.6 percent (21-for-33) from the floor, and he appears to be an excellent frontcourt complement to rookie Karl-Anthony Towns. The T-wolves are 0-3 during that stretch, however, so there's no guarantee Dieng will remain in the starting five over the long haul despite his impressive run. Enjoy the production spike while it lasts, but have a backup plan ready.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Will start again Friday

Dieng will draw another start Friday versus the Jazz. This will be the second consecutive start for Dieng with Kevin Garnett out of the lineup. He played really well in his first start, posting 21 points (10/13 FG, 1-3 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes of action. He should expect a tougher time Friday though as he matches up with one of the best defensive frontcourts in the league in the Utah Jazz.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Scores 21 points on 13 shots Wednesday

Dieng delivered 21 points (10-13 FG, 1-3 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes during the Timberwolves' 126-123 loss to the Thunder on Wednesday. Dieng's season has been frustrating to fantasy owners. However, on nights when Kevin Garnett sits to rest, that allows even more minutes for the center from Senegal to showcase his skills. In the last two games, Dieng is averaging 17.0 points on 8.5 shots per game to go with 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 27 minutes per contest.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Will start Wednesday

Dieng will draw the start Wednesday versus the Thunder, Jon Krawczynski of the Minneapolis Associated Press reports. Nikola Pekovic was originally expected to replace Kevin Garnett in Minnesota's starting lineup, but the Timberwolves have opted to go with Dieng. It will be Dieng's first start in 12 games. He put up 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals in his last outing. Expect him to see a similar workload Wednesday.

Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Grabs 11 rebounds Wednesday

Dieng contributed six points (3-7 FG), 11 rebounds, two steals, and one assist in 16 minutes during the Timberwolves' 106-94 overtime loss to the Mavericks on Wednesday. Dieng is managing eight points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 steals, one assist, and 0.6 blocks in 19 minutes per appearance over the last five games. Dieng was getting 28 minutes per game in December, and responded with averages of 10.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per contest. However, he has been closer to 20 minutes per night during every other month in 2015-16, and unless there is a trade made before the deadline, the presence of a healthy Nikola Pekovic further limits Dieng's likelihood of earning 25-30 minutes on a regular basis.
