Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Suffers tailbone contusion Monday

Gobert left Monday's loss to the Thunder in the fourth quarter due to a tailbone contusion and didn't return, the Associated Press reports. He finished with 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one steal, and five turnovers in 25 minutes. Gobert had played over 36 minutes in each of his previous three games since returning from a sprained ankle, but saw his playing time reduced significantly Monday once the injury surfaced. The ailment doesn't sound especially worrisome, however, and Gobert's extended absence in the second half likely had a lot to do with the Jazz trailing by 20 points after three quarters. The expectation is that Gobert will be ready to assume his normal minutes load when the Jazz take the court again Wednesday against the Clippers, when he'll be asked to match up with DeAndre Jordan.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Appears to be fine going forward

Gobert has scored 18 points and collected 16 rebounds over the last two games while playing just under 40 minutes in each contest. After sitting out two games on the previous road trip, Gobert has played significant minutes in two consecutive games and has been fairly productive in each of them. He even added in five blocks, four assists, and two steals in the past two games. This seems to indicate that the 23-year-old is fine going forward and should continue to play plenty of minutes as the main center for the Jazz.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Will play Sunday

Gobert (ankle) will attempt to play Sunday against the Hawks. After a two-game absence, Gobert took part in morning shootaround Sunday and felt good enough during the session to pronounce himself good to go for the evening. It's expected that he'll reclaim his spot as the Jazz's starting center, though any lingering pain he may be experiencing with his ankle could result in him facing a minute restriction of some kind. Gobert had been averaging 33.4 minutes over his seven games prior to the injury, but don't be surprised if his minutes count falls into the 20-to-25 range as the Jazz look to limit his workload in his first game back.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Questionable for Sunday's game

Gobert (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's tilt in Atlanta, David Locke of the Utah Jazz reports. Gobert has missed Utah's last two games with an ankle injury. He wanted to play Friday but was unable to go, so going through shootaround would seem to be a good sign for his chances to play. Gobert is averaging 11.9 points, 8.7 boards, 2.0 assists, 0.6 steals, and 3.4 rejections, in 33 minutes per game this season.

      Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Out Friday

Gobert (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game. He will be held out for the second straight game with the sprained ankle, meaning Derrick Favors will once again be charged with carrying a heavier load down low. Favors blocked seven shots and played 40 minutes in the Jazz's last game, so he makes for a strong play in daily leagues.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Questionable for Friday

Gobert (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Magic Gobert missed Thursday night's game against Miami and now there is a chance he misses the second of the back-to-back. Trey Lyles got the start in Gobert's place against the Heat, but still only played 18 minutes and scored just two points. However, Derrick Favors played a team-high 40 minutes and took over as a rim protector, recording seven blocks. Expect Favors to play heavy minutes and be active in the frontcourt once again should Gobert be ruled out.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Questionable for Thursday

Gobert (ankle) did not take part in Utah's morning shootaround and is questionable for Thursday's game against the Heat, Jazz broadcaster David Locke reports. Gobert has not taken the floor since injuring his ankle in Tuesday's game, but there is still a chance he could play in Thursday's game. Expect the Jazz to confirm whether or not Gobert will play Thursday night shortly before tip-off.

      Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Questionable Thursday

Gobert (ankle) did not practice Wednesday and is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Heat. Gobert rolled his ankle in the fourth quarter against the Cavaliers and briefly left the game before returning a few minutes later. While he did not appear to be visibly hampered at the time, the ankle likely swelled up overnight, and the Jazz certainly won't take any chances with their franchise center. Word on Gobert's status for the matchup with Miami likely won't come until after shootaround Thursday morning.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert: Leaves with sprained ankle

Gobert left Tuesday's game with a sprained ankle and is questionable for Thursday's game in Miami, the Salt Lake Tribune's Aaron Falk reports. "I think I should be good to go, if not tomorrow, in a few days," Gobert said after the game. "Nothing broken, nothing bad, so just a basketball sprained ankle." He put up 15 points with seven rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes before leaving Tuesday, and was seen jogging in the tunnel trying to get ready to come back in the game. Fortunately it does not sound like Gobert will be out for long, and he should be a game-time decision Thursday.
