Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Heads back to bench Tuesday

Schroder returned to the bench for Tuesday's win over the Celtics, contributing six points (1-7 FG, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, but five turnovers over 19 minutes. Schroder continued to start in the Hawks' previous game Saturday against the Cavaliers, as coach Mike Budenholzer preferred to bring Jeff Teague (ankle) off the bench in the point guard's first game back from injury. After enduring no setbacks Saturday, Teague unsurprisingly reclaimed his starting role Tuesday night, which will result in Schroder seeing a downgrade in his fantasy value. Even while working primarily as a bench player this season, Schroder has put up decent averages of 11.6 points, 4.8 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.8 steals, so he shouldn't be written off entirely in deeper formats.

Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Nets just eight points in Tuesday's loss

Schroder scored just eight points, but dished out 10 assists and pulled down five rebounds over 29 minutes in Tuesday's 90-88 loss to the Nets. In his second straight start in place of the injured Jeff Teague, Schroder went 3-of-11 from the field and 1-of-4 from distance, as he had a tough time against the bigger Jarrett Jack. But as long as Teague remains out, Schroder will get a nice boost in fantasy value.

Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Likely to enter starting lineup Sunday

Schroder is expected to enter the starting lineup at point guard during Sunday's game against the Jazz with Jeff Teague (ankle) listed as doubtful, KL Chouinard of reports. Early on in the season, Schroder has occasionally started alongside Teague at shooting guard while Kyle Korver has rested during back-to-back sets, but the 22-year-old looks like he'll get the opportunity to conduct the offense by himself Sunday. Schroder has been quite effective in limited playing time, averaging 12 points, 4.1 assists, and 0.9 steals over 23.1 minutes per game. If Schroder surpasses 30 minutes of playing time Sunday, he could represent a worthy target in daily formats.

Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Starting alongside Teague

Schroder will start Wednesday's game, Chris Vivlamore of the AJC reports. With Kyle Korver (rest) inactive Wednesday, the Hawks will go with two point guards in the starting backcourt. Jeff Teague still figures to be the primary ball-handler, but both he and Schroder will have an opportunity to see big minutes.

Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Will start Friday

Schroder will start Friday's game against the Hornets, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Reports. Schroder will get the nod alongside Jeff Teague with Kyle Korver (ankle) sitting out Friday's game. Schroder averaged 16.5 points and 3.0 assists in the first two games of the season despite averaging just 22 minutes per contest, and he will have a good chance to match or improve upon those numbers with more minutes likely to come Friday night.

Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Hawks pick up 2016-17 option

Schroder had his 2016-17 team option picked up by the Hawks on Tuesday, Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Now entering his third season with the Hawks, Schroder, the 22-year old German national will be looking to improve on a 2014-15 campaign where he averaged 10.0 points, 4.1 assists and 19.7 minutes in 77 games. Schroder has shown promise throughout the preseason, but All-Star point guard Jeff Teague will continue to limit Schroder's fantasy value as long as he's producing like he did last season. Barring a dramatic breakout from Schroder or an injury to Teague, expect Schroder to continue getting similar minutes to last season in a backup role.

Hawks G Dennis Schroder scores 11 points in preseason win

Hawks guard Dennis Schroder poured in 11 points (3-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT, two assists and a rebound over 16 minutes in Friday's 103-93 victory over the Pelicans. Schroeder displayed his typical efficiency, making his most of his time on the court. Friday's stat line is one that will likely be seen from the 23-year-old during the regular season when he serves as the primary backup to Jeff Teague. Schroeder will likely tally an average number of minutes close to the 19.7 he posted in 2014-15, somewhat capping his offensive potential in fantasy leagues, despite his trademark productivity in limited opportunities.

Hawks G Dennis Schroder plays playoff-low three minutes Sunday

Mike Budenholzer has apparently lost confidence in Dennis Schroder, at least if the playoff-low three minutes he gave the Hawks guard Sunday night is any indication. Schroder played at least 11 minutes in every postseason game. But a need for outside shooting in the absence of Kyle Korver had Budenholzer opting for Shelvin Mack in the taut overtime loss in Cleveland. Mack performed well, but his two misses on the last possession clinched defeat. Schroder has hit on just 19 of his last 60 shots in the postseason.
