      Celtics' Rajon Rondo officially traded to Mavericks for trio of players

      The Celtics and Mavericks have officially completed a deal to send point guard Rajon Rondo to Dallas. Boston is also trading power forward Dwight Powell to the Mavs, the team announced. Dallas is sending center Brandan Wright, forward Jae Crowder and point guard Jameer Nelson along with a conditional first and second round draft pick to the Celtics. To make room for the players being traded, Boston has also waived center Vitor Faverani and acquired a $12.9 million trade exception.

      Still no update on Celtics C Vitor Faverani

      Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Saturday that he had no update on injured center Vitor Faverani, reports. Faverani took a few shots on the practice court Saturday but doesn't appear close to be going through a full workout. He has yet to play this season while recovering from knee surgery.

      Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters that he's not sure when center Vitor Faverani will return to the lineup. Faverani has missed the first 12 games of the season after undergoing surgery on his injured knee in October. He remains without a timetable for return, per the Boston Globe. "I don't know, to be honest," Stevens said. "When he initially had that surgery, I heard six to eight weeks, just like you did, and I've been told it's going to go longer than that."

      Celtics C Vitor Faverani gives update on knee

      Celtics center Vitor Faverani said Saturday that he feels "100 percent better" than he did before having surgery on his injured knee but remains very limited in what he can do on the knee, reports. "My knee's looking very nice. I've recovered my muscles in my leg," Faverani also said. "We're just taking time to jump on the court. I don't want the same thing to happen again, to work and then get back to playing before I can. I don't want to injure it again." Faverani was initially expected to miss six-to-eight weeks while recovering, but that window is coming to the close and he doesn't appear close to getting back on the court. He said that no timeframes have been discussed with the team doctors.

      Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters that center Vitor Faverani has not made any progress in his recovery from a knee injury, according to ESPN Boston. Faverani has yet to play a game this season and remains without a timetable for return. "Zero idea," Stevens said. "I don't know. I talked to him [Sunday]. They have not given him any specific timeline."

The team could choose to part ways with the big man after the latest development in his ongoing knee issues.
