Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Plays two minutes Friday

Dedmon (foot) had two points (2-2 FT) in two minutes during the Magic's 107-93 loss to the Clippers on Friday. Dedmon missed Wednesday's matchup versus the Thunder with a sore foot. However, he was available on Friday, though he only ended up playing two minutes. Dedmon is averaging 11 minutes per game on the season, but he has only seen a double digit allotment twice thus far in 2016.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Activated vs. Clips

Dedmon (foot) will be available Friday against the Clippers, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Dedmon missed Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City with soreness in his foot, but the ailment looks to be nothing serious, and Dedmon will be available off the bench Friday night. The USC product has seen limited action of late, playing double-digit minutes just once in his last nine appearances.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Out for Wednesday's contest

Dedmon is out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder due to a foot sprain he suffered in workouts on Tuesday, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Dedmon's injury was suffered in voluntary workouts on Tuesday, and the severity of the injury is at this time unknown, and he should be considered questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers. His absence shouldn't have too large of an impact on the game, since Dedmon is averaging just 6.9 minutes per game this season.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Plays 11 minutes in Monday's loss

Dedmon played 11 minutes in Monday's 98-81 loss to the Hawks, finishing with four points (2-2 FG), seven rebounds, and one steal. Dedmon has now played in eight of the Magic's last 10 games, but has only topped 10 minutes on two of those occasions. He continues to rank behind Nikola Vucevic, Channing Frye, and Jason Smith in the Magic's rotation of big men, though he may have since surpassed Andrew Nicholson, who saw only nine minutes in Monday's contest.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Did not play in Sunday's contest

Dedmon appears to have been removed from the lineup over the past few games. Dedmon saw a lot of time in the first few games of the season while he was starting for a then injured Nikola Vucevic. Over the past five games, Dedmon has been held out twice and averaged only five minutes per game in the three games he did play, recording a combined three points and one rebound. With Andrew Nicholson seeing more time it seems as though Dedmon has been phased out of the lineup, and he shouldn't be expected to play much unless injuries again force him into the lineup.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Returning to bench

Dedmon will come off the bench Friday against the Jazz, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Dedmon started each of the last four games while Nikola Vucevic was hampered by a knee injury, but with Vucevic now healthy, he'll reprise his role as the first center off the bench. Dedmon is not known for his offensive prowess, but he's a capable rebounder, averaging 8.7 boards over his last three outings.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Swats three in Friday's start

Dedmon scored 10 points (3-5 FG, 4-6 FT) with four rebounds and three blocks in 30 minutes during Friday's win over the Raptors. Getting the start in place of the injured Nik Vucevic, Dedmon was able to assert himself under the rim, although he didn't contribute much else. Vucevic isn't expected to be out long, but Dedmon could be a useful short-term source of blocks while he's sidelined.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Confirmed as starter

The Magic have confirmed that Dedmon will start in place of Nikola Vucevic (knee) on Friday. Vucevic is battling a bone bruise in his knee, so Dedmon will move into the starting lineup in his stead. Dedmon played 26 minutes against Houston on Wednesday, finishing with four points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals before fouling out. Dedmon is a far superior defender to Vucevic, but he's far from the same talent offensively.

Magic's Dewayne Dedmon: Expected to start Friday

Dedmon is expected to enter the starting lineup at center Friday against the Raptors, Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Regular starter Nikola Vucevic was exited the second half of Wednesday's loss to the Rockets with a non-contact knee injury, which was diagnosed Thursday as a bone bruise on his right knee. While the injury isn't believed to be a long-term concern, it'll sideline Vucevic for at least Friday's game, which should enable Dedmon, his top backup, to pick up his first start of the season. Dedmon is averaging a modest four points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks over four games this season, but those numbers have come in just 16.5 minutes per contest. If he can receive around 25 minutes Friday, he could be an excellent value play in daily formats.

Magic C DeWayne Dedmon grabs 13 boards Tuesday

Magic center Dewayne Dedmon recorded eight points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks over 20 minutes in a preseason defeat of the Heat on Tuesday. The 7-footer looks the part of the imposing presence in front of the rim, but he's unlikely to parlay that into an abundance of court time with Orlando. He averaged just 14.5 minutes of action while playing in 59 games a season ago.
